Ever notice what you get in response from the Democrats here?

I have seen many conservative posters here lay out perfectly good reasonable arguements on any number of subjects. What most of the more liberal persuasion do is question your intelligence, insult you, and post flippant remarks. Few times have I seen a well thought out response argueing how your idea works better. Tell us exactly how taxing the rich and corporations more will create jobs. This is just as bad as Obama saying change with no explanation of what that change is or how it will work.

If some here bash Obama without telling you how McCain it better, you bash our ideas without telling us how yours is better.

I come here to debate and learn a little from those with different opinions, but if most of the Democrats on this board are any indication, there isn't anything much to learn or you just cannot defend the liberal agenda.

Hey, I used to be a liberal, don't make fun of them...they are miserable people, I should know, I used to be one.

If you made Governmnent your God, you'd be miserable too.

Pray for them...and I don't mean that in a patronizing way, they truly are misguided...but then again, a lot of the liberals here

are just young, they'll grow out of it.

Obama is a black supremicist

Obama is a radical christan

Obama is really white

Obama is a communist

Obama is a socialist

Obama wants to destroy Israel

Obama isn't really an American

Obama is a thug

Obama wants american soldiers to die

Obama hates america

Obama is secretly a george bush supporter

Obama is a radical liberal

I really dont think the "conservatives" are in a place put down anyone here...

congratulations for proving his point. Instead of dealing with the topic, you take something that a small portion (2-4 posters) saidand apply it to all conservatives.

Right...

One, I'm not a democrat. Two, I'm not the one who make the blanket statement about how conservatives have been posting worthwhile topics and that all democrats have refused to debate the topics. He was the one that decided to group everyone up.

liberal loosers can't make a sound argument. only tactic they have is to attack intelligence of posters even though they are the ones who are too dumb to defend their socialist anti-american ideas! they can't defend their islamic racist candidate so what else you expect them to do??

There's your answer right there! Why debate stuff when people are going to stick to their beliefs regardless of what you say. After all these months someone still believes that Obama is islamic (which I still can't figure out with his ties to Rev Wright is he Christian or Muslim), and freely post it proves that it would be time WASTED. Like arguing with a stop sign......You are supposed to say go, not stop, go, not stop go, say go, go!!!!!

except that he used qualifiers.

"Many conservative posters" means not all conservative posters just like "most of the liberal pursuasion" does not mean all liberals. That doesnt mean his statement is completely accurate, but he did use qualifiers which is more than you did when you said "the 'conservatives" which is all inclusive and therefore a blanket statement.

BTW, "most of the liberal pursuasion" also doesnt necessarily mean the person is a democrat so you pointing that out doesnt have much bearing on the discussion.

Thanks again for proving his point tho.

he called himself a muslim when he went to that madrassa in indonesia! i'll take obama's word about his islamic background over the liberal driveby media.

the guy is a newbie and quite possibly a troll....take his post with a grain of salt. There are those on this board who do try to conduct rational debates that even if the people on the other side aren't convinced, they can concede points and possibly readjust their thinking a little bit. The purpose of a good debate shouldnt just be to sway somebody to your side, but also to at least get the person to see where you are coming from and, if your reasoning is sound and logical, to incorporate that information into their perception of the world. That moves us all closer to a middle ground

This thread is nothing short of absurd. All the conservatives on this board have been labeling liberals with ad hominem attacks that are not well reasoned. Why do we support the democrats? Let me enlighten you:

1. The GOP is too loyal to big oil and halliburton, and are not ready to truly go forward with alternative energies and technologies that would harm their relationship with beloved big oil lobby.

2. The GOP's dogmatic foreign policy has hurt our standing in the world, and for those that say "we're USA, why do we have to care what other countries think?" A: Because we live in a global economy, and the value of the dollar matters, that's why.

3. The GOP has consistently showed that civil rights are not a major priority to them. They would rather have certain civil rights suppressed if it gives them a political advantage. If that isn't contrary to what the forefathers believed in, then I don't know what is.

4. The GOP has low-balled the environment time and time again. Clean air, clean water matter. Protecting our forests, coasts, rivers and parks is important. I think the GOP would rather protect business interests. I'm sorry but environmental protection is more important to me than lining the wallets and coffers of various corporate CEO's whose companies would benefit from the exploitation of those natural resources.

5. I think the biggest criticism of the democrats on this board is that they raise taxes. Yes, they raise taxes for the wealthy. Personally, if I made $300,000 a year I would rather carry a larger percentage of the burden than someone who made $30,000. But i guess I'm just a nice

guy. Tax and spend you say? Well, the Bush method has been borrow and spend which is ultimately worse. We've borrowed enormous amounts of money from China. If the GOP dose not represent fiscal responsibility then what do they represent? Abolishing gay marriage? I don't see homosexuality as this great threat, I don't care what people do in their bedrooms, at least not enough to make it a major political talking point.

your premise if faulty if you think "conservative" equals the GOP.

Did the conservatives on the board NOT argue those issues? Or were the people that did not conservatives?

I never said that every conservative on the board believed anything.

I stand by my statement. Conservatives did argue those points. If you want to start grouping people together, the "conservatives" on this board don't have any leg to stand on when talking about intelligent arguments.

It took me awhile. Not so many at once please. I have kids to tend to. :D

1. The government should not be pushing any energy alternatives or oil. The free market will fix this eventually. How? When the market demands it. Right now there is not enough demand for alternative energy innovations which make them cost prohibitive to produce. Rest assured though if demand rises and a cost effective alternative comes around it will be produced. When they can make money they will bring it to market. I do not see the government pushing oil as much as there just isn't an affordable alternative, besides we cannot just shut the oil off tommorrow. Where we differ I am sure, is you will say the government should just pay for it. I say let the free market do it. They always produce the better, cheaper products.

2. I believe in cooperating with other nations, we have to. The thing that bothers me is America is always asked to make the sacrifices without much support in return. The U.N. asked us to go in to Kosovo, Bosnia, and Somalia. These were humanitarian missions with no real personal interest, but we went. Yet, when we needed to go into Iraq for our own interest, few backed us. We give billions of dollars to the U.N. and to other nations, who routinely seem to oppose what we ask for. For proof of this go to google and put in rejects U.S. The list is long. The enviromental treaties usually restrict only developed nations forgetting we still have an economy and people to support. I just believe if there is one person in this country who should be looking out for our nation it is our President, I am entrusting him with that responsibitity. You find Bush and John Bolton bad, I see them as doing thier job. I just do not believe other nations have our best interest in mind.

3. You were not specific, but if you are talking about the Patriot act and all the surviellance. We won't have much of a debate. I don't like those either. I do not think they are doing it for political advantage. I don't see it, but your welcome to show me.

4. I am not sure how you support that reasoning. There are 300 million people in this country depending on those businesses you speak of for income and products. I don't see how we can sacrifice economic prosperity for the environment. It is not as bad as it may seem. Air pollution around the cities is bad, I will give you that. The future, well we are educating children right now to be smart enough to deal with it when the future is here. Humans adapt and they will. Nearly forty years ago the enviromental people sounded alarms, but we are still here. You just can't radically change things, but as time goes by you see the solutions appear.

5. If you would like paying more in taxes fine, pay, but that doesn't mean others do. Borrowing to me is much better than taxing, because you are not confiscating someones money never to be returned. Borrowing money from citizens to be repaid seems the responsible thing to do,and at the same time cut spending instead of raising taxes. I am not happy with Bush at all, and I have already stated before he is no fiscal conservative. So I agree. The social agenda is not mine either, but if you look at the whole picture you will see, a Republican has held office twenty out of the last twenty- eight years and Roe v. Wade still stands. Everyone is still struggling with the homosexual question, but again no one is rounding them up. As yet, and you can correct me, there are no laws against being homosexual. There may be some who would like to push this radical agenda, but you can prove in no way that Bush ever has or any Republican president has. They may talk some, but they never really act, just to keep the right wing off their back.

I am glad you clarified that.

Now what does that have to do with the topic of the thread? Somebody points out the lack of rational discourse when a conservative makes a valid or logical point and you point out what SOME conservatives have said who werent making valid or logical points. Your statement is therefore still irrelevant to the topic at hand and therefore is still proving his point (at least in your case)

that about sums it up for me. i could go on about certain economic points but tactician pretty much knocked that one out of the park.

broad generalizations are always going to be incorrect to at least some degree. the original poster can say that no liberals on this board have intelligent discussions, but as summerbunny said it is like trying to argue with a stop sign (ive used arguing with a rock as an example before, but both are inanimate objects). no matter what we say many conservatives will either cherry pick statistics or quotes or articles to support their point of view, and the same is true of liberals. while it can be quite entertaining to have debates about politics on message boards they are ultimately pointless. anyone who is debating is so firmly entrenched in their beliefs that it is ultimately as useless as trying to fix your internet connection by hitting your head against your router or modem.

we could all stand to be a little less biased and a little more open to different ideas, but those are personal flaws that arent likely to be fixed by discussions or arguments on a message board. but for the guy (i think it was dago) that commented on the guy proving his point as far as lumping all conservatives in with a few radical republicans on the board the same can be said with liberals. tactician just proved you wrong, but im sure you wont admit it. im sure a lot more would be willing to do the same if they thought there was an off chance of engaging in meaningful discussion that ultimately didnt end in name calling one way or another. but thats just not an option with a lot of conservatives on this board, and there are a few posts in this thread that substantiate my opinion on this subject.

again, nice job tactician. that was a refreshing read. :)

I will agree with you and bunny, no one is going to change their minds, but that does not excuse garbage post, just to post. The point is if you don't agree why not just leave. If I read a thread and I find there is no point to me posting I just usually leave. Yeah, I could post some insult or demean them, but I don't. I am not saying I have never gotten carried away sometimes, but as a rule I try not to just post garbage on someone else's thread even if it is. If I have what I believe is a legitimate agruement I post it. If someone reads it, and disagrees, either argue the other point or just do not post. I think some here are just trying to pad thier counts. A status thing you know.
