2007 Associated Press FCS All-American First Team: Cal Poly junior wide receiver Ramses Barden has been named to the 2007 Associated Press Football Championship Subdivision All-America first team while junior center Stephen Field landed a spot on the third unit. Barden, a 6-6, 228-pound Z-Back from Flintridge Prep High School in Altadena, shared the Great West Football Conference’s offensive player of the year award with North Dakota State senior quarterback Steve Walker. Barden is a three-time All-Great West first-team selection and last week was named to the Walter Camp Football Foundation’s Football Championship Subdivision All-America Team. On Monday he was named to the American Football Coaches Association All-American, the fifth Mustang in as many years to earn the prestigious honor. Barden shattered Mustang receiving records throughout the 2007 season. He now holds all-time Cal Poly records for most receiving yards (1,467), points (108) and 100-yard receiving games (7) in a season as well as receiving touchdowns in a game (4), season (18) and career (32). He was second nationally in receiving yards per game this season and he will open the 2008 season as the active FCS leader in career touchdowns, receiving yards and yards per catch. Barden caught 57 passes for 1,467 yards and 18 touchdowns this fall, helping Cal Poly to a 7-4 overall record and its fifth consecutive winning season. His career totals improved to 139 catches (No. 5 all-time at Cal Poly) for 2,947 yards (No. 2) and 32 touchdowns (No. 1). His 57 catches in 2007 is No. 6 all-time at Cal Poly. - Cal Poly Football
