Flowery Branch — Defensive tackle Trey Lewis, who reinjured his surgically repaired knee walking down stairs in the offseason, could miss up to six weeks of the season after being placed on the active/non-football injury list. He could end up on the physically unable to perform list.

"We haven't decided what he'll be on because he can be on either of the two," Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said. "They are out for six weeks but could practice for 21 days. Then you have to make a decision."

Lewis played in nine games last year before being placed on injured reserve on Nov. 20 after injuring a knee against Tampa Bay in Week 11.

After the 21-day period, Lewis could miss the season.

"If they are not ready then, they go back on [the physically unable to perform] status for the rest of the season," Dimitroff said. "They are lost for the season at that point."
