My brothers pretty big into it but I don't know so much about it.

Recently I have gotten several silver dimes back in change which leads me to believe someones coin collection has been stolen off or spent off by someone who thinks money is just money.

A couple of years ago my sister got a 1950's twenty dollar bill back in change. Very good shape. Hard to believe paper money can last long in circulation so one has to assume that too came from someones collection.

I always keep anything from pre fifties, not so much for value but just in case someone needs it to fill out a collection book.

I did like the idea of State quarters and such because I think it brought collecting back into the spotlight a little.

You are right about the getting back someones old coins. I got a 1941 dime about two months ago. Probably some kid taking his parents stuff. I check all my change now. I do not collect for monetary purposes. I just keep what I get mostly. We did the state quarters thing. We have them in a nice card board map. Always check your change it may have a surprise there. My mother kept lots of wheat pennies and other coins. Zinc pennies, an 1906 nickel and such. When my father passed some came to me. Nothing of any real value, but just having a coin that was in someones pocket over a hundred years ago is neat.
