bossFALCON™
ummm he would still have to get re-instated. not easy at all, ask pacman. we would then have to see what physical shape he was in and we'd decide if we wanted to keep him or not. goatehall
The last report about him and the program was what in January. He had not entered the program at the time and I"m not sure if he has entered it since then. One thing I do know is even if he has entered the program he has not yet completed the program as I believe it is a 9 month program and it has not even been 9months. Once the program is complete then the BOP will update the information. I ultimately think the state trial will work itself out.As far as Goodell I do not see Vick having a problem getting reinstated. Look at Pacman it appears he has finally learned his leason. Think about it this way. When Pacman was supposed to meet with Goodell he was in a strip club the night before the meeting. I just do not see the justification for Goodell to suspend Vick and additional season. He was suspended for 07. He will not play in 08. So what purpose what an addition year truly serve. It would be pointless but stranger things have happen especially when it comes to Roger Goodell.

Since it is a year-long program and there is a waiting list to get in, we're getting awfully close to the time where he won't be able to enter because he won't have enough time left to complete it. goatehall
I think the gambling aspect of Vick's case could be a problem. I do not think the gambling aspect will really be a major issue. This is for a few reasons. Based on the information in the statement of facts, Vick was not directly involved with the gambling other than giving the other defendants money which they in turn used to gamble. According to everyone Vick did not make side bets and the dogs fights Vick attended were won by BNK. Secondly do you know how many players in the NFL and other sports gamble both legally and illegally. Third I know it was a while ago but Paul Hornung who is a current NFL Hall of Famer and another NFL player actually gambled on NFL games and received one year suspensions and then resumed their play. In addition to the suspension Vick has served already he will also be serving an extensive jail time as well.

How things were handled then versus now is very different. As to Vick...If I place a bet and win, then generously give you my winnings, does that mean I didn't gamble? The fact that some/most of the illegal activity was in the name of BNK doesn't really matter as Vick was a principle of BNK. The fact that Vick/BNK did participate in an interstate criminal enterprise (which included gambling) is, I suspect, not going to viewed as a positive by the league. I don't know how many other players gamble legally and/or illegally...but I know one that got caught doing it and, according to the CBA, that is grounds for a lifetime ban. I have no idea if Goodell would issue that ban on Vick, but I suspect all the deceptiveness on Vick's part toward Goodell and Blank isn't going to help his cause. Well NFL players and professional athletes and even regular people engage in illegal gambling all the time. If you really want to be technical about it any gambling not done in a casino or through a sanctioned organization is considered illegal. Those NCAA bracket pools are illegal. A coach got in trouble with the NCAA for participating in one. If player A went to LSU and Player B went to Ohio state and they made a wager on the National Title Game then that is illegal gambling. If they have a team pool for sacks, stats ect then that is illegal gambling. If the players get together and play poker for money that is illegal gambling. Alex Rodriguez got in trouble for this a few years back for playing in an illegal poker house in NY but received no punishment. I have had co-workers get in trouble for this with the police. So in essence if Goodell wants to be technical about it he could do it. Then he would have to also apply that same technicallity to other players in the league. So the question is would Goodell do that and then apply it evenly to other players. This I doubt. You said deceptiveness to Goodell would not help his cause. You mean the same deceptiveness that Bill Belichik used on Goodell and saw vertually no consecuences thus far for this deceptiveness? As far as Blank there was no deceptiveness to Blank because Blank has stated many times " That he never asked Vick if he was involved, because he didn't feel it was his responsibilty to ask" In addition there are other NFL players Vick knows about who were involved in dog fighting he took one for the team and did not say. He did not use the Tim Donaghy approach.
goatehall
I also think when the new CBA comes out that Goodell will lose some of his power as it relates to player discipline. If the NFLPA president decertifies the union then Goodell's totalitarianism will be illegal anyway. So there is a lot to be sorted out between now and then.
