Posted June 7, 2016 Just got back yesterday from taking our son on his 1st trip to Disney World. So far, I've gotten my files off of the camera and processed 1 image. This is a HDR panorama of Splash Mountain. It consists of 2 processed HDR images that are 7 exposures each and merged together. Both of the HDR images were taken handheld due to the amount of foot traffic on the bridge. Posted June 18, 2016 Spaceship Earth at Epcot. It started to rain on us in the early evening so we ended up leaving before the fireworks, but the lighting made for some ominous clouds. Also found a nice reflection of Spaceship Earth. Posted June 18, 2016 More of Spacehip Earth at Epcot. These were taken a couple of days after the previously posted ones. Stuck around until close to midnight snapping away. I'm sure they hated me. Behind the neck of Maleficent as a dragon and between the whiskers was a tree. Took a good 30 minutes in Photoshop to clone clouds over it. Posted August 15, 2016 Ran down to Zoo Atlanta over the weekend to try out a new macro lens. Animals were very inactive and the "bigger ticket" animals weren't let out until late morning, so they immediately went for shade. I ended up spending half of my time there in the reptile house. Posted September 12, 2016 And a few from Labor Day weekend. We had a Native American Powwow in town and they had booked a Birds of Prey show. I got there early to take a look at the booths and my only intention of going was to photograph the BoP show. I struck up a conversation with a young lady at the BoP tent that ended up being the media/marketing person for the show. She was able to get me access into the arena to photograph the birds. Unfortunately, the arena was heavily shaded by trees so flight shots were almost impossible. I came away with mostly static ones though. Posted November 22, 2016 Making America great again. Very hazy morning due to the recent wildfires, but it was otherwise a clear day. This is a composite of 2 shots, 1 of the moon and 1 of Ma Berry on her perch. The moon was positioned perfectly behind Ma Berry around 10:00 am this past weekend but the boundary fence around the viewing area prevented us from lining up the shot. So since I wanted the moon in the background, I photographed it and then Ma Berry a few seconds later and combined the 2 shots in Photoshop. Haven't done a lot of shooting for personal reasons lately, but I have been shooting a TON for work. Back in May, I took on a position as Art Director for a hospitality group that owns 3 nice restaurants & a music venue. So lots & lots of cocktail, wine, and food photos, plus some live band shots, event photos & portrait work. It's been keeping me super busy, and I'm working with lots of really great people. I feel extremely fortunate.

It was fun. The GNPA (Georgia Nature Photography Association) did a Milky Way shoot up here a couple of months ago that I was unable to attend. Not wanting to miss out on trying a new type of photography, I researched where the Milky Way would be during Berry College's Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks hoping that with all of the kids gone, there would be less light pollution on the Mountain Campus. I found out that the Milky Way would be in the South/Southwest sky and decided to use Frost Chapel as my foreground subject. Unfortunately, there was a security light that was making the sky above almost as bright as a sunrise, so that shot didn't happen. I definitely want to do more of it and get the Milky Way. In between the GNPA shoot and this shot, a friend, and local photographer also, shot this location as well for star trails. Our compositions are different, but it's essentially the same idea (Mine is a wider shot with the reflection while his is a tighter shot of just the buildings and some of the star trails without the reflection). I commented on his how much I liked it and had been wanting to try star trails. Then I realized how hard it is to find a good dark sky....lol. After shooting this one, I sent him a courtesy text letting him know that I had other intentions for a night shot and that they didn't work out so decided to try my luck at star trails at the same location he had shot. Over the past 5-ish years, we've shot together, participate in 2 of the same local arts shows, shared information, bounced ideas off of each other, etc. so I didn't think too much of shooting the same scene since we've done it quite a bit in the past. I didn't hear anything for a couple of days, so I processed this one and posted it on line. He sent me a FB message thanking me for the heads up and that he enjoys collaborating and sharing ideas/information, but has concerns that some of our work is similar and wishes that we could/would develop our own styles and portfolios (my style has branched off in the wildlife/nature/landscape direction over the past couple of years). I didn't really know how to respond, so i deleted the message and looked at it as "Ya know...we're local to the same area, have similar styles/interests, etc. Our work is going to overlap, and in some cases, possibly be the same. It's just like when I go to the Tetons this summer....I'm going to get the same shot of Moulton Barn in front of the Tetons. It happens, but I can't hunt down every photographer that has shot it and ask them to change their style."
Posted December 14, 2016 I have a media credential for the Golden State Warriors this season and get court side access before the game. Still learning how to use the camera, but figured the games would be a good opportunity to learn how to use it.
