You know what, know one knows what a guy is going to become at the next level.  I have hope in Ryan but I don't know for sure and neither do you guys.

Matt Ryan is Matt Ryan.  No need to compare him to anyone.

Very true.

I just can't believe the guys on here that are upset that we have a real quarterback now. Yeah Vick was exciting to watch, but he couldn't throw his way out of a wet paper bag. I think Ryan can and will do amazing things, but a lot of it is up to the coaching staff now.

Redman is a real QB. We do have no real defensive tackles.

And what is Ryan's excuse? He played against poor competition with a **** of an offensive line. Cherilus, Marten, and Beekman. That is 2 OT's and 1 guard taken in the top 4 rounds.

Manning is way better. And I hate Peyton Manning.

Throw Ryan Leaf's stats in there, too...:doze:

Stats, stats, stats...Matt Ryan had good stats. But more importantly, if he can make all other 10 of his Offensive players do just a little bit more, push just a little bit harder, get than ONE EXTRA INCH... then he has accomplished what Vick never could. Being a LEADER of a TEAM makes TEAMS BETTER. That's all that separates teams like the Patriots and the Dolphins.

Thanks for posting this.

I never realized that Matt Ryan had comparable stats to Manning.

Very impressive indeed.

Especially considering the supporting cast Ryan had to work with.

One could say Ryan had a more impressive college career.

You complimented and criticized Vick, yet contradicted yourself in the same post. Because our record with/without him, speaks to the very same leadership you described.

During Vick's last season here, he was in the top 10 in numerous passing categories...

Yards per completion, touchdowns, touchdown to interception ratio, and total first downs etc...

Add all of that to being leading all QB's in rushing yards, yards per carry...

Say what you will about the guy off the field, but you're only making yourself look like a ****** by trying to minimize what he did on the field. It shows very very low football IQ...

As for Ryan, I have seen his work ethic compared to Manning's, which makes me very happy. That's probably as far as the comparison should go. I think Rya will become a good NFL Quarterback, not great, but good...

Ummm that's exactly what Vick did do. Our team went from being considered a playoff contender to being one of the worst teams in the entire league. Since 2002, the falcons are 7-24 without Vick. Over that same span they were like 38-26-1.

Vick made nearly everyone much much better...

Oh well, the world is still flat though...

Please don't use the Mattlanta sign. Until he gets on the field and starts winning games he just doesn't have that kind of love. Mattlanta... nobody has that kind of love!

With our fans, when they win they don't get that kind of love.  When that happens they didn't win by enough or they didn't throw for enough yards.

I don't like compairing players BC they are two totally differant people but if I had to pick one player to compair him to it would have to be Payton . He is the closest thing to Matt I can find .  It will all depend on how much help he gets , He has what it takes to do his job well. I think at the very least he will be a very solid starter in the NFL . And we will not be wondering if sombody else should be starting besides him.

Vick is gone and never ever coming back to this team. When people learn to deal with that they may be not be so freakin psychotic about this team. It sucks but he did this to himself.

We moved on and are in the first step of a complete rebuilding project.

We signed several DT's before the draft with NFL experience that are still relatively young and have a lot of upside. If they don't work out we will replace them. You simply cannot expect us to rebuild the whole team in a single off season. That being said TD has done a great job of it so far on paper. We have already filled alot of holes. All we can do now is sti back and see how this team comes together curing the season.

Whining for Vick or Dorsey isn't going to accomplish anything, neither of these players are on our team.

are you kidding?  did you even look at the numbers?

ryan had about 20% less production than peyton manning.

i think if you walked around saying that matt ryan had a more impressive college career than peyton manning, people would laugh at you and call you an idiot

seriously, i dare you to try it next week at work and let us know how that goes for you.

The Vols were THE TEAM back then so he had the cast to put those numbers up. But to get to the main point, they say he STUDIES the game like Manning which he does. That is the only comparison because they call him a playbook NERD
