nick h
okay so theres been a lot of talk about jake long and dorsey going one-two in the draft so i was thinking about what we do at 3 then and i came up with this:3. Chris Long-generally regarded as the top player along with dorsey in this draft, i dont know how he's fallen from the top spot and many people on this site do not want him at all but thats because they are ignorant and believe he would simply sit due to anderson and abraham. the fact is he would be rotated around 4 positions: le, re, ut, and olb. 34. Brian Brohm-the experts are saying flacco is the second qb taken and while i dont agree with their analysis of the qb's i do think they know better than us where people figure to go so i think brohm falls here to us. also miami is said to be high on henne rather than brohm.37. Duane Brown or Sam Baker-Brown has really grown on me and i've been high on baker since draft discussion began. Either could fill the need at left tackle from day 1.trade 48 to Green Bay for 60 and 91. Green Bay does not have many holes so by moving up they position themselves to get a good second tier receiver like desean jackson or malcolm kelly or even tight end martellus bennett. we get an extra pick and can get better value at 60 for the position i'm picking. 60. Dre Moore or Red Bryant-both are huge defensive tackles who command two blockers and fill the need at nose tackle which has been a huge problem for us and an explanation for our porous run defense. they wont wreak havoc in the pass rush but should allow anderson, abraham, and chris long to get at the passer. 68. Carl Nicks-talent wise he is a top 35 pick but due to character concerns he drops into the third. i know we will be extra cautious about these types of players but he is too talented to pass at 68. alternative-chilo rachal if he also falls91. Josh Barrett/Tyrell Johnson or Beau Bell/Phillip Wheeler-safety needs starting help, linebacking needs depth so safety would be the priority here. Barrett is my top choice with Johnson coming next. out of the linebackers in the third round wheeler and bell are my favorites. 98. Brad Cottam-decent blocker, not dominant in college but great size and good hands. hard worker and good intelligence as well as speed for a tight end. 103. Tyvon Branch- a big corner who is ideal for cover 2. extremely fast and can be a returner rookie as well as nickel back. future starter opposite houston. can also play safety. hornsmd
My only question is can Long possible make the move to MLB. I know he can play DE and OLB. I would love it if he could move to MLB. I think he is a beast.
nick h
he certainly couldnt play their full time but could probably play there a few snaps a game. just imagine the matchup problems the front seven would pose with 2 very good pass rush threats and hopefully a good one in anderson
hornsmd
On run downs, our D front seven could look like this. Anderson, Bryant, Lokey, Abe, Nicholas, Long, Boley. On passing downs: Long, Babineaux, Moorehead, Abe, Nicholas, Brooking, Boley. I like it.

nick h
Matthew Pritts (4/20/2008)You lost me at Chris Long.the other option at 3 is matt ryan. here i get a qb and a premier defensive talent. i still fill the biggest needs: QB, LT, NT, and secondary help with this draft. could take sedrick ellis but long's versatility and talent does a lot more for me
Nolefalcon69
I agree, Long would be a great player to build around. I like his versitility, keeping him moving would keep OCs on their toes stopping our blitz.
