since89
Why does everyone think Micheal Turner will be any good. He played for a team loaded with talent and one of the best olines in football. Not to mention he spelled the best back in football! I just really dont think that was a smart signing. He was a back up for a reason. I hope for the falcons that's not the case, but haven't we seen this movie before? I get as excited about our team as the next man, I'm just not so sold on Turner yet! da snowman
when LT couldnt go, turner came in and was productive all the time..there was a reason he was a back up...LT WAS IN FRONT OF HIM...thats like sayin if peyton manning and tom brady played for the same team and tom was the starter, you would question peyton mannings skills because he was a backup. since89
OK you can't even compare the two! Turner is nowhere in the same sentence as LT, so the Manning and Brady analogy doesn't work. And when LT was out he was productive because the have a **** of a line!! I don't even think Turner is a top 20 Back. Again I hope im wrong but I don't think so though. I think this has Chris Berman and ESPN written all over it!
falconfanjason
Turner can come in and immediately produce. That's why we got him. He's big enough to get the tough yards even if he doesn't have picture perfect blocking in front of him. He has exceptional speed for a 237 lb back also. He and Norwood make our backfield respectable. With Warrick Dunn here, we merely had two scat backs. Warrick was good in the open field but he could get the tough yards and our line just wasn't very good.
formul8or
Even though he had a great o-line, if you watch videos he makes a lot of yardage on his own.But he was almost as productive as LT. We finally have a power back for the first time in a long time, and with Norwood beside him it should be fun.
BigSlick
Why does everyone think Micheal Turner will be any good. He played for a team loaded with talent and one of the best olines in football. He performed well, very well, when he had some talent around him. Who doesn't? In fact, I would venture to say that Hutchinson and McKinnie were more responsible for Minnesota's good running game the Adrian Peterson. What great RB didn't have a terrific offensive line, with the exception of maybe Barry Sanders? Not to mention he spelled the best back in football! I just really dont think that was a smart signing. He was a back up for a reason. You kinda contradict yourself here. You say he was a backup, but backed up the best RB in the game. Is there a running back in the NFL that would put LT on the bench? I don't think so. Everyone is going to be 2nd on the depth chart behind LT. Also consider alot of his carries came later in the game when the opposing defense knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Chargers were going to run the ball...and he was still successful.I hope for the falcons that's not the case, but haven't we seen this movie before? I get as excited about our team as the next man, I'm just not so sold on Turner yet! That's understandable. He hasn't been a feature back for an entire season, but he has played a significant amount. His shouldn't be wore down from being overworked. If the Falcons put some good offensive linemen infront of him, he could easily be the best RB in the NFC South. BlacksburgHokie
since89 (4/16/2008)He was a back upfor a reason. While that's technically true, any RB in the league would be LT's backup if they were on the same team...
da snowman
and besides, he is a major upgrade over anything we had in the past and now...no i dont see him as a every down back, but spliting carries with jerious, this could be a deadly combo for years to come. 215FalconsFanatic
Also i would like to sight Marion Barber your honor. Are you saying he sucks? He was the 2nd RB for the cowboys. Also morris in seattle and the guy who backs up clinton portis in washington. Those guys all could very well start somewhere else.

since89
We can do all the talking we want, but maybe someone who's actually played the game at a high level can please answer this, if you are in a two back system that features a good back what are the odds of the back up being up to par as well. I tell you madden is ruining football! And for the guy with the Ladell Betts comment I personally think he's better than Portis so that's subjective! I live in D.C. so i've seen a lot of skins games and by far he's better than CP. And again we will see!

That left tackle we don't have?

petrinoHATER
So your saying that no one team has a 2 starting running back system?Your saying he was only productive because of the line.Your trying to say LT is not as good as everyone thinks because he has a great line?So what your really trying to say is you have no clue to say this. You just had nothing else to do but attempt to bash someone.Your unexperienced football IQ has led you to think this because what?Shaub is a good starter and will get Houston right and he backed up Vick.My friend John Dixon who did play in the NFL has an opinion of him.He thinks he is tough strong and fast with solid field vision. So I think his take on this guy is maybe a little better.**** Miami's new QB thought enough of Dixon to draft him the year that NY wound up winning the Superbowl you know Bill whats his name.My friend blew his knee out and NY spent 1,000,000 to repair a game injury. He is now a GA state patrol officer but will never forget his time with Bill, the real LT and others he played with in the NFL and college. He played during power running at its finest. phattywankenobi
Every down performance obviously remains to be seen and I don't think most have penciled him in for MVP. The Falcons have not had a big pile moving back since Jamal Andersen. This guy has speed and will knock some people down. This will help with the progression of a new O line. Dunn and Norwood are/were good once they get into the secondary but I could not stand the Dunn up the middle for 2 every other play.
since89
First of all petrino Hater: I'm one of the top players to come out of highschool in the state of GA. Secondly, I played in the CFL and AFL and i've gone to camp with the a few nfl teams just never made the cut! And i'm now a Middle School Coach!(HEAD) to exact. Actually what offense would I be talking about if I told my BST to Double with my BSG so the BSG will combo to the mike if pressure flashes across the BSG face!! Limited football IQ ha!! ignorant_icarus
While nothing is guaranteed; he has played well enough to warrant the excitement. Nobody is assuring his success, but I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt before we start hating on him.

since89
I didn't bait anyone, this gentleman insulted my football IQ so I just wanted him to see I KNOW a little about this game. I wasn't trying to show up anyone. Actually this is the 1st time ive even mentioned my playing or coaching career. I just love the game its my passion, I eat, sleep and drink this. That's why I dont argue with the so called experts on this boards its pointless. And in the end im still wrong!
