Jedi-Falcon
http://www.ajc.com/sports/content/sports/f...alnot_0416.htmlJimmy Williams passes up workoutBy D. ORLANDO LEDBETTERThe Atlanta Journal-ConstitutionPublished on: 04/16/08Flowery Branch Falcons safety Jimmy Williams, a second-round draft pick in 2006 who has yet to break into the starting lineup, elected not to attend the second day of the team's optional minicamp practice Tuesday."Jimmy was not here today and, of course, these [practices] are optional," Falcons coach Mike Smith said. "This is not a mandatory one."Smith said the staff was aware that Williams would not attend. He was the only player under contract not in attendance. Calls to Williams' cellphone were not returned.Williams played cornerback as a rookie. Last season, he was moved to safety and lost out to Chris Crocker for the starting free safety job.Erik Coleman, a free-agent signee, lined up beside Lawyer Milloy at free safety with the No. 1 unit Tuesday.Last season, Williams was moved to special teams, but after playing poorly, was inactive for two December games.---------------------I guess perennial Pro-Bowlers like Jimmy Williams don't need to practice as much. vickandbailey
hey wassup Jedi longtime no see:) I have read several articles about this, I dont know but do you think this will hurt his chances to start ? I mean we really dont know what he is going through so I dont want to assume.

He hasn't proved much of anything so far in the NFL; at CB or Safety, and right now is looking more and more like a career special-teamer. GEORGIAfan
Man i didnt want him at FS anyways. i wanted Reggie Nelson. I hope we cut his A. DJ and Trey cant be play, but they are there watching others hoping to get a shot to show the coaches that they can do something. if Kenny Phillips falls to the 2nd, then i say with our 1st or 2nd 2nd that we take him. Jedi-Falcon
Since we drafted him I always imagined J. Williams being a head-hunter in our secondary. I would love to see him turn-the-corner, but at this point I don't know if his desire is there to do it.

GEORGIAfan
Carter (4/16/2008)And so it begins... Jimmy is the next target. :doze:to me he doesnt try hard enough. the next target is DJ even though he is trying, he is hurt, but he wants to show the coaches what he could do. Jwill has no competition, and he doesnt want to work hard. i hope we get a real FS.
foreveriloveatlanta
Normally I try not to say anything negative about a Falcon, but this is BS and I find it hard to believe he is doing this considering where he is at currently in his career. But I like jimmy and I hope whatever he is going through that he gets it right. We have lost enough good players as it is:)

People just attack him because UGA homers put him on a pedestal and he's never been higher than 3rd on the depth chart.Jimmy will be the next target of the thug police. He definitely needs to step up his efforts on the field... but regardless, he's the next player with a target on his back.

But GF you have to see the terrible thing that happened with vick, he had so many fans that put him on the mountain that it created so much hatred for him. I believe that dj should get a shot, but thats up to the organization. You seen it with vick, he made haters angry and made huggers rejoice, but i really believe this is what our fan base is. **** back in the day we had rival posters that was welcomed here because they didnt like vick. Dont put shock through that drama:)
Jedi-Falcon
I think Jimmy Williams was in the same draft class as Michael Huff. Everyone wanted Huff, and Williams was considered a close 2nd. Look at them both now...

Jimmy is the next target. :doze:now carter you should know that i never talk down about players or about this franchise. i just know that J.Will got demoted last year and he has not had a very successful NFL stint so far. i really think he needs to be taking advantage this situation. i dont think he should be missing this camp and if he does somebody else may take his spot and for all we know he could be cut by TC or preseason. i just dont want him to waste his talent. Jedi-Falcon
I think Jimmy Williams has lost focus. I think he thought that entering the NFL would give him his fame and glory without having to work for it. I think Jimmy has gotten lazy and it's going to cost him his career. Sad to see happen, but he had the world at his feet and is blowing it.

He has been a disappointment and he SHOULD be at the mini-camp... but as it's not mandatory, he may have other things going on and I don't think we should jump the gun. Maybe he has lost focus, maybe he's not motivated... I'm not ready to start blasting him for skipping a completely optional workout, though.I'm talking about the guys who blasted DeAngelo Hall and Vick despite being two of the best players on the team because they weren't perfect saints. Whether Jimmy falls in line or not, I'm pretty sure he's going to catch most of the flack this season.
