How many blackouts in the Metro-Atl Area this season

you automatically get to watch the 8 away games....

this is Falcons home schedule:

9/07 - vs. Detroit

9/31 - vs. Kansas City

10/12 - vs. Chicago

11/9 - vs. New Orleans

11/16 - vs. Denver

11/23 - vs. Carolina

12/14 - vs. Tampa

12/28 - vs. St. Louis

that is a very weak home schedule - only top teams with big followings help sell-out the dome when the Falcons are not doing well - and with no YKW.   The only team that I see will help sell-out the dome is probably the Chicago Bears.   Certain teams travel well like the Steelers, Cowboys and Packers. Since we are playing none of those teams - nobody except the Bears will "help" sell-out the dome. I am guessing that probably only about 65% of the season-ticket holders renew and there will not be enough new season ticket holders to make up the difference.

KEEP IN MND - THIS IS ALL MY "BEST GUESS"!!!!

So, my estimation is that Season-Ticket base will be about 40,000 and I believe the Ga. Dome capacity is about 72,000 - so, each game will need about 32,000 tickets sold - I don't think that will happen until the Falcons start consistently winning again. Also, its hard to reach new fans when only 1/2 the games are on TV and those are road-games - which usually end up being more losses than home games.

Its going to "suck" missing out on 6-7 games this year. I was a season ticket holder for last 6 years but cannot afford them this year given my finances (violens playing softly in background:)).

Anyway, that is my guess - 9 games on TV - 7 games blacked out - hope I'm wrong!

I would say other than the 8 away games, we could consider ourselves lucky to see 2 regular season home games on tv.  For those that don't remember the years where the Falcons was always blacked out, welcome to a new day.

NFL blackout rule is dumbest rule in all of sports - i've never seen that the blackout helps sell tickets - it really has just opposite effect - the casual fans just forget about the Falcons and the die-hard fans that cannot afford tickets lose interest as well.   On away games that are televised, probably hometown viewership goes down and then the local networks lose all the extra adverstising revenue for the hometown games versus some "sunday movie of the week" crap which creates lower market share.

NFL really needs to do away with the rule...

Since those are all away games I think there's is a very good chance they will be televised in Metro Atlanta.

As far as the home games go..... maybe one.

Is that a suprise because I've been thinking that since week 2 of last season.

Me too. I complained about black-outs since the Vick vs Schaub days.

Just a hunch, but I'm thinking out of 16 games, we'll only be able to watch the following on the tube, for those who don't have the cash to burn for tix:

Green Bay, Philly, San Diego and Minnesota.

What do you guys think?

Away games are not blacked out, so I think your hunch sucks.

Why is that somehow everytime something come out there are always pessimist?

Some of you sicken me. Can't be optimistic about your team.

i know it is crazy. i can understand believing that we may not win, but dont bash your own team.

Lol, my sentiments exactly.
