ATL Doc
Which NFL QB can we put behind our line and have high expectations? The line was made to block for the run and when we decided to become a throwing team we didn't redo our line so can we get a fair assessment of eitherof our QBs? Michael Vick is an execptional athlete and because he was so elusive we didn't acquire and maintain a high quality O-line, nor did we find receivers that we could count on to catch passes on a consistant basis.Hopefully the new GM will try to address our weaknesses and constantly monitor the team's needs. Sun Tzu 7
Not really. What's amazing is that the offensive line is in WORSE shape than it was going into the season last year.We don't have a starting Left Tackle and we have questions about our Right Tackle.I think this is the problem... when it gets around to draft time people have started focusing on specific picks, (such as a QB with the #3), and then either forget or convince themselves the offensive line isn't THAT bad... ****, I was doing that myself until I saw the stuff about mini-camp and that brought me back to reality.Ask yourself this question... what positions on the o-line do you feel are solid and we don't need to worry about for a few years? Left Guard?
bossFALCON™
redman did pretty good behind our line last year.
ATL Doc
Many of us have the misconcieption that Redman played well. Redman played somewhat well but if you watched our games, well for an Atlanta QB was to take a snap and get rid of the ball as soon as he could focus on a receiver. Given more time to go throw his receiver set and having a legitimate running threat were really missing.

Sun Tzu 7
bossFALCON (4/15/2008)redman did pretty good behind our line last year.Yes but you need to remember a few things. Throw out the game against the Seahawks... that was a preseason game for them. Now don't forget that after Petrino left we went back to a zone blocking scheme... therefore our offense changed....When Redman was starting at QB we weren't running the same offense we had been all year so defenses didn't have a lot of film to break down.... and we played the Cardinals... don't forget that.I would look at his Tampa performance for a better idea of what to expect. Wild Bill
I think we are overestimating Pastinko's NFL coaching ability. :w00t:
ATL Doc
I don't like Redman or Harrington because I simply don't believe they have the talent to win a Superbowl in Atlanta. I don't know if Shockley does or does not but I am curious to see. I am open minded and observant enough to know that it is an unfair accessment to say either one of these guys are terrible or great and although I semi-like Shockley I am far from saying anyone is the "future" for my Falcons. If we don't get a line most Falcons QB will retire early from injury. What was Redman's record with last year? That's the bottom line and what we need to correct.
Mon*Star*Man
harrington had his time and he's seems to be just a back up just holds the ball to long .......I say give redman a chance he looked pretty decent and with more time with the WR's he could build a good relationship with them hopefully the run game can give him a little more upside keep defense's guessing DJ we havent seen any thing from him yet so i cant say that he's good or bad in preseason he looks ok but thats not enought time for me to pass judgement he's still young and it would make more sense to cut joey than a Qb we havent seen yet and is only

His performance in the Tampa game is probably more accurate of what to expect when we play a solid team...After all we have to play them twice next year... and Tampa having a good defense is not a new thing... it's something I expect from year to year... ATL Doc
Sun Tzu 7Do you think he would have been able to perform better with a better line? With Vick the DE and SLB (Strong Side Linebacker) would have to freeze to ensure he didn't fake the hand off and take off. That made Warrick's job easier but with Norwood and Turner hopefully freezing those guys won't be as important. What about Harington and Shockley behind a better line?(Dang, I want Vick back! Don't get mad guys when you see this but he really helped our team.)
