jgentry162
Anyone think if we take Dorsey that we will get a decent QB with our second round pick. I think we at least need to move back into the first round to pick ahead of Miami who I know will pick one of the QB's. I read that the Chargers are wanting to trade down for picks, the 27th pick is worth 720 Pts on the NFL scale Jimmy Johnson made and most teams use. Our last pick in round two the 48th pick is worth 380 Pts and our first pick in round three is worth 260 points add our 5th round pick at 80 pts and it exactly equals 720 Pts. So it is an even trade on the NFL scale. We all know Ryan will not get past the Ravens and if KC takes him like I think they will, I don't think the Ravens will take Brohm that high. I think we have three tiers of QB's with Ryan being the most NFL ready and being the only first tier QB. Then I think Brohm is the only second tier QB being closer to Ryans level than the other QB's in what I consider the third tier of QB's being Joe Flacco- Delaware, Chad Henne- Michigan and John David Booty- USC. I really like Flacco but he is like Vick was as a pick, boom or bust and we don't need take another chance and get a bust like Vick was in the passing game. So I think moving up to get Brohm would be a smart move and we would be able to get a decent Corner Back (Antoine Cason- Arizona) with our first 2nd round pick and a decent O-lineman (Sam Baker-USC) with our second 2nd round pick. This way we get the most dominating defensive player in the draft a pretty good QB to groom and help our secondary replace Hall as well as get some help on the O-line and that is only the first two rounds of our draft. :w00t:
formul8or
I'm all for it, I worry Miami would take Brohm in the 2nd.
phattywankenobi
I have seen on several mocks where the Buc's take a QB at 20. They have several QB's but none of them are the future. If this is the case then we would have to leap frog over them with our favorite trade partner the Texans at 18. We could trade them our 37,98, and some other small change to make up the difference.
jgentry162
I think Gruden wants a player that will make more of an impact now with their first pick. Taking a QB might be best for the team but, Gruden has last say on their draft and I don't think he will pick someone who will help out the next coach if Tampa doesn't make it past the first round of the playoffs again. I think Gruden knows he was lucky last year with the NFC South having problems. The falcons were fighting more with the coaches than the other teams. New Orleans lost McCalaster for the season and Bush was not an every down RB and they split with Carolina at the end of the season because of receiver injuriesI think they will go for the best receiver available with the problems they had with receiver injuries last year that caused them to lose four of their last five games. Garcia still has a couple of good years left and with this draft being a weak receiver draft I think Gruden will get one while he can. If they have any kind of run on receivers there will be none that will help out Tampa this year with their second round pick. That is why I am almost for sure they will go receiver with their first pick.
brooking/beast
we dont need an NFL ready QB. We need some one that knows the postion and that we can groom int to our system. We are gona be safe where we are picking a Qb in the 2nd round. Brhom, Henne, and Woodson would be there.
ATL Doc
I may be in the minority but why do we need a QB? Is it fair to judge any of our previous QBs with the O-line and receivers? Michael Vick had speed and agility to elude defenders but it is unfair to ask any QB (including Vick) to take a team to the Superbowl when they have an average of 2 seconds to get rid of the ball and the recievers drop so many balls it appears they are eating popcorn with extra butter between plays. We need to get our Defense tight and our O-line good enough to gie our QB time t throw the ball. jgentry162
We need to groom a QB while we build our line a little. The receivers only had butter hands when Vick was passing the ball. They didn't know if it was going to come a hundred miles an hour or if Vick was actually going to try to put touch on the ball so they could catch it, then they didn't know if it was going to be low, over their head or behind them. It is hard to get into a rhythm as a receiver when your QB has none. Our O-line didn't look that bad when it had a decent QB behind it early in the year before injuries. We do need another O-lineman but it was not the line two years ago when Vick was behind center, it was Vick's inconsistency that made teams send more than could be blocked knowing Vick would not even see his hot read and if he did odds were he would make a bad pass. The risk was worth the gamble. Had they did the same thing to a good passer he would eat the defense up for big yards. Vick hardly ever could and that is why the line looked like a Swiss cheese. Because of ;)Vick
mindgame
Why not trade a 3rd round pick or 4th for Charlie Whitehurst? he went to high school in Fulton county and was a really good QB at Clemson. He was SD's 3rd round pick 2 years ago and has helped norv turner call offensive plays from the sideline, he has a really good arm and is mobile. I also thing that its good because hes learned from Norv and rivers for 2 years now and we wouldnt have to have him wait even more for him to start or compete for the starting job.Hers a video of him
Trouble
we need a nfl ready qb because if harrington or redman fail to perform to a decent 500 standard, everyone will be calling for the new kid to come in. This could happen as soon as mid season if we start off the same as last season. But if the ship is sinking and we are paying some kid millions, he better be able to get in there and play. If he gets the chance to get in then he will bond with the team and thats something a future qb will need. Becoming a leader happens on the field not from the sidelines. Now im not saying grab a qb with our first pick but if one of the better qbs thats on our boards is still there late in the first we should consider going after 1 of them. Draft the best talent available and build around that.
Oregon Falcon
If we were to trade back into the late 1st round to take a QB, I think the Cowboys at 28 would be our best option. They have a history of trading down and it wouldn't cost too much to make the move. The only reason we should trade up is if TD and Coach Smith think the guy we have targeted will be drafted before our first 2nd round pick.TD knows how to scout winners and I will have faith in his and Coach Smith's draft strategy. I can tell you one thing...TD will have a better draft than all of McKay's combined.
jgentry162
We just need to get ahead of Miami if Brohm is gone we have to take Flacco. I'. mot sold on the Michigan kid and Booty is a risk too. If we can't get a possible starter for next season in Ryan or Brohm, ;)we might as well get the QB with the most upside and that is Flacco. jgentry162
Woodson looked awful at Combine and his pro day. Some say he will be lucky to be drafted by the 5th round if at all. He would definitely be a project player that isn't rated as highly as Shockley was and we took him with a sixth I think. If we need to draft a QB early. If we already had a good QB in place I could see drafting Woodson late so he could be used for trade bait if he ever developed or as a starter if a major injury happened to the Starter. Woodson will go to a team Like Jacksonville or the Cowboys or another team set at QB and he might not be drafted at all
