The man was a staunch red-baiter and racist. He was head of the FBI from 1924 to 1973.

During the Palmer raids that took place during the first red scare of the 1920's, thousands of immigrants were rounded up and arrested. During one of the raids, more than 4000 immigrants were arrested in one night. When it was all over, only 550 people were deported, the rest were released.

During the Civil Rights era he constantly hounded MLK just like he hounded Marcus Garvey in the 1920's. He authorized many illegal wire taps inside SCLC Headquarters and inside Kings private home in order to gather information to discredit him and his movement.

The man was a scum bag. Every President from Truman to Nixon thought about relieveing him of his duties. But in the end, they couldnt because he knew to much dirt.

Not that this matters, but what do you think about the rumors about him being a homosexual?  I definately think he was a closet homosexual based on everything I have seen and read about him.
