southga08
Glenn Dorsey DT Louisiana State University 6 2, 305 lbs Glenn Dorsey is worth the hype. I am not a fan of taking any defensive lineman #1 overall, signed Courtney Brown. However, as much as I am not a fan of DL going #1 or LSU at all, he may just be deserving. Dorsey is a monster in a position where you don t expect much monstrous characteristics. This may just be the kind of talent that could compete in statistics like sacks and tackles for loss with those of Defensive Ends. He is the most explosive DT we have seen since Warren Sapp. Although we don t think much of Sapp now, no question he would have been worth the pick as early as 4 years pre-Buccaneers Super Bowl victory (2000). Explosiveness is the first word that comes to mind when describing Glenn Dorsey. He gets great penetration and can take on two blockers consistently without slowing down. Unlike most defensive lineman in this or any draft, Dorsey could and based on where he will get drafted should start yesterday for whoever drafts him. Most believe that will be Miami. Dorsey is the ideal height and weight to play in a standard 4-3 defensive scheme. He is the prototype at his position. He is a run stuffer as well as a DT that will consistently collapse the front side of the pocket. As the kids say, Glenn Dorsey is the truth. Any team who need to address DT or run defense, can all but fix their issues in both categories by simply selecting Glenn Dorsey in the draft. The only problem is that there are at least 29 teams who have not shot unless they trade up, which Parcells is probably willing to entertain. The best Defensive Tackle and/or Defensive Player in the draft. A can t miss prospect. Most favorably compared to a young Warren Sapp with Reggie White like tendenciesI am glad I am not the only person who has been reminded of Reggie White by Glenn Dorsey. I am in no way saying that Dorsey will be as good as Reggie White, but his body movement does remind me of him sometimes. I don't know if I can explain what I see, because it would be like trying to explain how a professional golfer swings a club. But I know their are other people that have had to think this, because I have been thinking this for a few months before I even read this article (even though the article is old because it refers to Miami running the 4-3). (Side note: This is not a draft Dorsey article for the Falcons, because I would not be upset if they took somebody else if Dorsey's injuries are a concern. I mainly want to talk about the specific player and not the Falcon's needs.)
Ran-dawg
Could not have said it better myself. He is Warren Sapp in his Prime and could possibly be better. What we saw of him last year was on a sprained knee and he was still a beast. He only missed 1 game in his college career even though being hurt at times. He played almost the entire season with a sprained knee because someone thought the best way to block him was the chop block him. This guy has heart, plays hurt and loves football. Everything New England has built their team around. I hope he is there at 3 because he will be a Falcon.
Bring It
Dorsey's success will be in direct proportion to his physical health and durability. If he stays injury free..............a BIG if..................he'll be a star impact player for years.
Purple Label
I like a lot of defensive linemen that are out there. Big Glenn Dorsey seperate himself from the rest. He is a beast. I believe that he could hurt a bear, and not a Chicago Bear.
Danishfalcon
I think his 'injury concerns' are greatly exaggerated. Lower drafting teams are just hoping that an elite talent is falling into their laps. I'd love to see Dorsey as a Falcon.
J. Falcon
Danishfalcon (3/7/2008)I think his 'injury concerns' are greatly exaggerated. All players are going to get injured, but Dorsey fights through his like very few can.
direwolf
I'd be just fine with that pick. It'd be nice to have a player of that caliber on our D line.Direwolf
Ethanga62890
If he falls to 3 that would be amazing. The best DT since Warren Sapp. Plus we have to have penetration if we are switching to a cover 2.

Somebody in the draft forum said Dorsey would not be a good fit for the Falcons defensive scheme :w00t:

I absolutely do blame the Auburn OL for that... It was the cheapest shot I've ever seen in college football. It ranks up there with Haynesworth playing chees grater with Andre Gurode's face. That guy should have been kicked out of that game and suspended for the year.I do blame them, I was being sarcastic (cause Dorsey was owning them)
Michael Skelton
would be cool with Dorsey! He is a beast and would help our team immediately. I just hope that he is not injury-prone though!
Tuggle'2
he is man among boys thats for sure. Due to the fact that DT's are starting to get the big money nowadays its not as bad taking a DT at this position. I think the biggest thing is a guy of this caliber can really help our line and really help our top pick from last year. Just as QB needs his rb or wr to be great sometimes the best thing for DE is a great DT. I have said to myself from day one if we cant have d-mac dorsey is the pick. Jake long is great as well but there are just to many OT this year in the draft to not select this guy drosey cause the drop off is way down after the first 2 DT's
Big Duke 6
He was considered best player in the draft by a lot of mocks before the end of the season.Reggie White?Hes not in the hall of fame yet.I remember a couple of games where he destoyed 2 blockers at a time.Im guardedly optimistic. The Linemen are bigger in the NFL but I believe he has what it takes. BUT what does TD think? I know he's a top notch scout so it will be interesting, his take on things. Hard Knock
I would love the Falcons to pick Dorsey if he is still there. If not I would be fine with Ellis.I would like to get our D-line shore up it would make the rest of the defense so much better.
