Vicious
I beg to differ. The number 3 pick is for elite talent and Ellis, Dorsey, and both longs are more elite at their position than Ryan will ever be at his. Also, if you didn't notice, DT just became priority one. Picking Ryan would be the dumbest pick since Aundray Bruce.
formul8or
It guarantees we get a QB, it doesn't guarantee Ryan who is second to Brohm.

UGA_DAWG46
monson007 (3/5/2008)The release of Joey Harrington guarantees that Ryan will be picked. It didn't guarentee Matt Ryan is the pick. Its just guarentee us picking a QB. Jake Long or Ellis should be our pick. Michael Turner need a monster to run behind.
Knight of God
monson007 (3/5/2008)The release of Joey Harrington guarantees that Ryan will be picked. No it doesn't. He was a none factor anyways.
Vicious
The most logical scenarios would be:1.) We select Jake Long.or2.) We go after either DT.then3.) We trade D Hall to Dallas for their first pick and get Brohm.

malk2.0
The release of joey shows nothing. We needed a qb even before joey got sent off.

I think we should go with Albert because he is just too nasty of a lineman to pass up at 22 or 28. I think we can get Jonathan Zenoe, Charles Goffrey, Chevis Jackson in the second-fifth round. Michael Skelton
monson007 (3/5/2008)The release of Joey Harrington guarantees that Ryan will be picked.I don't think that it guarantees anything except Joey won't play for the Falcons next year. The front office knows not to pick a QB with that first round pick. I think we will draft d-line or o-line in the first round, that would make more sense. Why would we draft a QB first, just to let him sit for a year? Why would we draft a QB and play him behind our offfensive line? he would get killed and then be injured and ride the pine for the rest of the year, we would be getting a high draft pick again and that makes no sense. Build the trenches!, and we will succeed! GO FALCONS!!!
Vicious
Isn't it funny that the teams with sustained success usually have great lines with average QB's. Look at how Peyton Manning looked when some of his line was missing during the season. He threw a career high 6 picks. Look at Brady in the superbowl missing one or two of his starters. He didn't respond very well to the pressure huh? Now look at Giants. Do you think Eli is an elite QB? I sure don't. A couple of games will not change his total body of work to me. He had a great defense and a very good o-line as well as a bruiser toting the ball. Elite QB is overrated.

stumpjumper
At least he's consistant at picking failures, although this don't bode well for Matt Ryan.
NCFalcon52
I will believe this if the Falcons pick up at least 1 big name OL and 1 Big Name DT in FA. Otherwise they have to pick Ellis or Dorsey.
604hof
Listening to too much ESPN and Maycock? Why draft a QB at the #3 spot when he has no offensive line to protect him. And there are those 19 INT's last year.Redman was resigned and there are going to be good QB's in the second round without taking Ryan in the 1st round. No matter what ESPN or NFL Access experts think, we need offensive and defensive linemen at this time. If the Falcons were to select Ryan, (and that is a scary thought), and he gets injured, the experts at ESPN and NFL Access will berate the Falcons for not drafting offensive linemen to protect the QB.Peace
