TrueFan1988
With the injury to Trey Lewis, The F.O is now forced to make some moves to bring inmore than 1 D.T. I don't think J.Long gets past the Rams. Now, if we stay at three we have to go DT. This injury may force us to sign some offensive linemen! So that we can address the DT in the draft. Either way that position is the most important to address right now. Then if and when Trey lewis come back we would have great depth. Shadyman
This definitely makes DL a bigger priority than it already was.

I agree we just changed our 1st pick from OL to DL.TD has made a couple of good moves, lets see how he handles Trey Lewis' reinjury under a little pressure. chris30277
If we are still concerned about Dorsey being healthy I wouldn't mind going Jake Long in the first, and then picking up Trevor Laws or Pat Sims in the second to play UT.... and then Frank Okam in the 3rd to play NT. We have a notable need at both positions

We have a notable need at both positionsChris,I agree with this......if Jake Long is at #3(i agree w/ someone earlier that he probably will be gone) - then I'm taking Jake......most likely he's gone though.....We have sufficient amount of picks to add depth to the Defensive Tackle position. If we don't take a DT in 1st round, we can take one with one of our 2nd round picks and then draft a space eater in 3rd or 4th round......Falcons will be fine at DT come April - no need to panic!
1989Fan
well, the good thing about it is that he still might be ready for the season....but Im not holding my breath.....
SINIK4L
i hate that Trey re-injured himself but PLEEEEASE God let this mean we will go DT with our 1st pick. I'd be happy with J.Long but I don't think he will make it to 3.but for the love of God, just say no to Ryan.

That was a ploy to get him to drop and it worked.

The guy reminds me of another former 2nd - 3rd round hopeful who dropped in the draft (to the 6th round). His short NFL career then justified the drop. His name was Chad Lavalais. Pa_Falcon_Fan
Injuries are never a good thing, but... Bring on Glenn Dorsey! I thought he was our best pick at 3 before Lewis got hurt again. Now I REALLY think he's our best choice.
formul8or
Dorsey and Ellis are the safest picks in the draft anyways. If we pick anyone other than Dorsey if he makes it to us I will flip out.

We are going to address the DT positions, but I think there is no way in H_ll we pass on Long if he is there.

Long will be very very good, but he isn't in the elite category.

There are doubts about his health, but with a NFL strength and conditioning coach I don't think this will be a huge problem. It seems that Ryan Clady(?) is the one that will be a little better suited for the nfl Left Tackle position than Long. Long will be an excellent tackle, but his skill balance tends to lean towards the run blocking side.
deester11
The silver lining is NO Matt "freakin" Ryan! Pearidge is going to have to go on suicide watch!
1989Fan
funt thing is I have read that many feel Long will be fine @ LT after his combine workouts. They said he has very light feet, and is nimble for his size.I have no doubt that he will be drafted high to play LT in the NFL.

I doubt any scout believes that.
snicker
I think we'll sign Grady Jackson to play NT and draft Dorsey or Ellis. I hate that Lewis got re-injured but if it means that we can avoid drafting Matt Ryan, then I guess that is the silver lining.
