NCFalcon52
Looks like we should be signing an OL or DL with the FA's. Unless the FO feels that they can address all of those needs in the draft. There were rumors about Williams OL coming in...anything new on him?I would say all signs really pointing toward Dorsey or Ellis. That would solve the DT problem with needed another DT late in the draft for depth. OL we can hit 1 in the 2nd round and another later in the draft for depth also add 1 OL in FA still, hopefully.QB is the big issue still looming. Maybe no resolve until draft or even later. My bet is Falcons know that either Dorsey or Ellis will be there at 3 and they are content with either one of those guys! stumpjumper
Most likely we'll address the lines in the draft, and pick a QB in the later rounds if at all.
Bucman™®
Everything starts with Both lines. but it takes more than a year to build a line, you need 3-4 years...
FalconFanatic!!!!
i think we should go d-line in draft rookie o lne may not get the blitzing schemes the defense will throw at them
BigBlackBB
I think we are waiting for the market to die down, alot of these lineman have been getting way too much money, and they really arent worth it..In my opinion we only need to sign a RG, and we can draft our LT.There are guys like Maurice williams, Rex Handot, and Floyd womack still available..Once these guys see thier not getting many offers thier price will go down. Also we should look at Grady Jackson and Ian Scott from the eagles
REV.2000
I'M TRYING NOT TO WORRY ABOUT THE OL RIGHT NOW. BUT THE THOUGHT KEEPS LINGERING IN MY MIND. I'M TRUSTING THAT TD HAS IT COVERED IN HIS PLANS. BUT STILL, IT'S AT THE CENTER OF MY THOUGHTS.
Tetsujin-28
The Trey Lewis injury pretty much forces us to utilize the #3 pick to take Ellis or Dorsey.
seafalconsfan
until the news on lewis, I'd say jake long, now I'm thinking ellis, only because of dorsey's injury report just made public. Does any here know how well Ellis has handled injuries in college ball?
Robert L
NCFalcon52 (3/5/2008)Looks like we should be signing an OL or DL with the FA's. My bet is Falcons know that either Dorsey or Ellis will be there at 3 and they are content with either one of those guys!Well, from the look of things now LT, C, RG, RT could use some help along with DT, and at least a defensive end to Keep Abraham fresh. So I completely agree...cut some dead weight pick up the RFA's especially Boley and swoop in a grab a couple FA linemen then finish it up in the draft. Rookies will need to adjust to the NFL, and with the money invested in Turner keep him 1 healthy 2 happy w/o being pounded in the back field and sign some O-linemen. The go D 1st pick then split OT/DT 2nd then best available player there on out and we will look good IMO LT Sam Baker(2nd Rd) LG Blaylock C Rex Hadnot(FA) RG Mo Williams (FA) RT Shane Olivea (FA)I mean these are message boards so I can dream right? lol
NiteFalcon
i really hope to just trade down. It costs way too much money now a days to pay top10 draft picks. lets package our first round pick and send it to the browns in a quinn package or send it to dallas for their 2 first rounders. etherdome
It's too bad we haven't signed M Williams. There seems to be an issue about where he wants to play. At Jax, he did a very good job at RG. But, I think he prefers RT.
tom Baldwin
A few things in life you can allways count on. Death, taxes, and the falcons offensive and defensive lines will be weak.
pured-hallfan
Let's see what they have planned for the draft
woodstockfan
I heard TD on 680 The Fan yesterday. When asked about the lines, he said they were assessing those needs and were working on it. They would look to the draft and continue to look into FA. He said they just couldn't afford the top tier line players this year i.e. Faneca, etc. They ended up with huge contracts. The interview was before the Trey Lewis news. Both lines need shoring up and I'm sure that will be the main focus of the draft. I agree with bgarcia that Mo Williams would be an upgrade at OL. I heard he was weighing whether to play here or resign with the Jags. We should hear something on that soon. With the Trey Lewis news, I believe we should consider looking into the Robertson guy from the Jets. However, that would be a trade situation and not a FA signing, and TD said in the interview he did not like giving up draft choices in trading for players. In conclusion, he said they definitely were not finished looking into FA and were assessing the lines carefully with the coaching staff. TD said we can't put together the entire puzzle in one year.
