How good is Vtech's Brandon Flowers?

as you all probably know the junior Brandon Flowers from Virginia Tech is entering the draft, i know he didnt have the best combine but he sure is one of the best DBs in this draft.

How do you think Brandon Flowers measures up to the Falcons' Jimmy Williams and Deangelo Hall?

-Mike Mayock has Brandon as his top corner

-he ran a 4.58, not an ideal time

-he is very physical and can press, also can tackle well and good break on the ball

just wondering how people feel about him, if D.hall was traded would u be upset if we drafted him? (IRONY)

a lot of people had him as the #1 cb in the draft but after his 40 time and cromartie's momentum i think he may start falling.

I agree, but disagree..

I am not a tech fan, but watched several games last year and I would say when he is on the field its different. He kept up with a lot of fast guys and the thing i like most he is

PHYSICAL

I say get him in the 2nd if he is there.

Just check him out...

Here's how I'd rate the cornerbacks right now:

First round picks: Leodis McKelvin

Mike Jenkins

Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie

Second round picks: Brandon Flowers

Aqib Talib

Patrick Lee

Feel free to agree or disagree, but Talib and Flowers both really hurt themselves at the combine, not only in the 40, but especially during the position drills.

i understand what your saying but due to hype and rankings by several analysts, brandon flowers i think will probably still end up in the 1st round....and also on the field he shows he can play ball

I'm not saying he isn't good. I wouldn't mind at all if we were to get him in the 2nd round (assuming we had traded D-Hall).

But how many teams do you really see drafting a cornerback in the 1st round this season? With the signings of Samuel, Florence, and Gay, there aren't too many teams looking for a starting cornerback. Remember, only two were drafted in the 1st round last season.

I just think, looking at the players available in the 1st round, and looking at team needs, that McKelvin, Jenkins, and MAYBE DRC will go in the 1st round, and that the other CBs will slip down into the 2nd.

I am a huge VT fan and go to about all the home games so I have seen my fair share of his games. First let me say that although Victor "Macho" Harris is a good CB Flowers is much better. Macho decided to stay in school mostly because he wasnt going to be a 1-2 round CB. Flowers instincts are 2nd to none in my opinion. He is plenty fast even though his 40 doesnt show it. He is really physical I dont feel like looking up the stats from this year but he had something like 75-80 tackles this year and 5 Int and 5 Int last year too. Flowers will be a steal in the draft he can play football. If he was 5'11- 6'0 and ran a 4.35-4.45 he would be the first CB taken but because of how players fall because of bad times will always make them fall in the draft but the main thing he has is he is just a plain football player. He is also really sound with his footwork and his hips I also think he can play either Cover 2 or Man. If you watch the video with Mike Mayock he shows clips with him in both zone and man and he can play both IMO. If we trade my boy D.Hall I hope we can snap Brandon Flowers in the 2nd if he is still there.
