bigbirdfanDC
I predict that if we draft Long out of Michigan we will be next year's Cleveland Browns. Redman will be next year's Derek Anderson, and Long will be next year's Joe Thomas. Draft Matt Ryan and we will be terrible again. Then again, we might be considerably better in a few years, but I am not a believer in the build for the future strategy in the NFL. Too many things can happen. NinjaSloth
It could happen. The Browns were a huge surprise on offense and yet allowed 30 points a game, so if we go all out on offense in the draft that definitely could be us

mr pickle
Look...our dline is in terrible shape. The only player we can really count on is Abe...and he'll probably get hurt again, like he usually does. On oline, we have two promising young players, in Clabo and Blayloc, and a solid vet in Weiner, who will likely play LT for us next year, regardless of who we draft. If we can add a Maurice Williams to play RG, then the oline should be significantly better...and we now have two elite ancillary blockers, in Mughelli and Hartsock...we've got players who can block...we don't have many who can defeat said blocks on the other side of the ball. We have to go DT. HAVE TO. There is no doubt that is what we are going to do.

blizzard_falcon
I'm also 90% positive we pick Ellis or Dorsey, only because I'm 90% positive St. Louis takes Jake Long at #2 and makes our choice that much easier.I'll say again, though: Chris Long is a HUGE wild card if he somehow slips to #3 - either because we are tempted to draft him, or because we trade down a few slots with NYJ/NE... nick h
i like the idea of a michigan dominated first 2 rounds except for henne, i dont think there is a real franchise qb in the draft but i'd rate brohm, ryan, and flacco over henne right now. however, manningham and long in falcons unis would be nice. Too many things can happen.I am just really glad that we don't have to use one of our draft picks on a running back now, and can focus on other areas of the team that are in dire need like the offensive line. Don't get me wrong I was one of the biggest proponents for drafting McFadden but we really need to solidfy the lines of scrimmage and the quarterback position, I really think this move combined with a few Offensive Linemen through both FA and the draft we could possibly surprise some people next year. The NFL is the quick fix league as well all know maybe the Falcons have struck gold with TD as GM.
Joremarid
i would be absolutly fine with drafting jake long, but ryan isn't going to cause us to lose next year. if we draft ryan he would sit on the bench all year.

Trade a draft pick for Dwayne Robertson and then draft Ryan and Clady in the first round. We end up with Dorsey, Clady, Robertson, and we still get a QB that many figure to be a good future starter. zmystico
Don't forget, our new GM was the Patriots director of college scouting, and its well known how good the Patriots were at drafting good players. I too am hoping we draft Long instead of Ryan or McFadden. Considering how well Dimitroff had scouted for the Patriots, I'm not beyond trading down to grab more talent. rudy
If Dorsey gets a clean bill on his injuries, I see we drafting him. Can you imagine with him and Abe? Abe putting pressure on outside ad Dorsey collapsing pockets from inside? Then we can get an OT later in the 1st round from DHall trade. This draft is deep with OT.Use one of our 2nd round and get a QB or trade up into the 1st to get a QB ... like Flacco.
