What would it cost to dump Michael Jenkins and

Lets face it Michael Jenkins can't get it done at this level. Look at how Roddy White progressed this year with a QB with a pass only metality. Michael Jenkins, I hate to say looks like a bust.

How many years are left on his contract? What kind of cap hit would there be for cutting him?

I would love to see Bryant Johnson brought in and teamed up with White and Robinson. Johnson is a big receiver with skills. It's hard to get the pub playing with Firzgerald and Bolden.

Any thoughts?

I say we give Michael Jenkins one more - ONE MORE - chance to succeed, in Coach Mularkey's system. If he doesn't at least show #4 receiver potential, then we axe him next season.

I still think we need to bring in Johnson for a look, anyway. I was really hoping we would talk to Ernest Wilford, but he got overpaid, so it's not a bad thing.

Roddy is our #1.

Robinson can be an excellent #3 slot receiver.

That leaves Jenkins, Horn, Jennings, Finneran, and whoever else to compete to be the #4.

But we have no true #2. Unless anyone out there thinks Jenkins or Horn can actually be that #2 receiver...

i dont think bryant johnson would be a big upgrade from micheal jenkins.. actually i believe jenkins still has more in the tank that we havent seen, by the way he had a pretty good season considering his previous seasons

He was the cause of three opposing TD's. I don't see how that was better than any of his previous seasons. He was actually more productive with Vick.

He looks like a bust in my eyes. He was a first round pick. If he were a 4th or 5th round pick then I might think differently, but a 1st round pick!!!

Everytime I watch him run his routes, he has terrible footwork, and when he does catch the ball it is never a clean catch. I would like to know how many yards after catch he has, just to see.

IMO jenkins needs to be cut. he should have been the first cut we made this offseason.

YOu really don't cut a young receiver that hasn't played that bad on a team that has.

um jenkins has played that bad. he has 1,595 career receiving yards. roddy almost passed that himself, this year!!!

I wouldn't call Michael Jenkins a bust. He is just on the wrong team. He came through some times when Roddy was dropping everything.
he was dropping them right there with him.Even Roddy came through some times when he was dropping balls.

Before last season, Roddy was The Drop King. Most of Roddy's were when the game was on the line.

Roddy was a ROOKIE then and Mike Vick threw the ball 100mph. Jenkins has been in the league what 4 or 5 years now. Redman and Harrington have very little zip on the ball, so I would call it a very catchable ball, look how Roddy did and look how Jenkins did.

and Jenkins' weren't?that same Saints game I think even on that same drive Jenkins dropped a wide open perfect pass across the middle that would have been a first down and huge gain.05 against the Seahawks Vick scrambles then launches a perfect pass downfield to Jenkins who was open by atleast 15-20 yards and it went right through his hands.Same thing against NY in 06 bomb right through his hands. With so many drops Roddy still led the WR's in yards.Jenkins has never looked like a starting WR.

Roddy was in his 2nd year then, not a rookie

Michael Jenkins cam a year before Roddy White. White was not a rookie in 2006. Vick virtually put the ball in his hand one time, and he dropped it.

Here's the difference:

Roddy White broke out big time in his 3rd season, like you would expect a WR to do.

Michael Jenkins has now played 4 seasons, and has shown that not only was he not worthy of being a 1st round pick, he's no better than a #3 or #4 receiver on THIS team. And we all know how bad our wideouts are.

the same way in the eagles vs pats game brady put the pass virtually put the ball in moss's hands one time, and he dropped it.

exactly. jenkins has 1,595 career rec yards. 1,595! roddy had 1,202 this year i think. we have seen roddy produce. we have not seen jenkins do the same.
