boss hogg
1. Michael Boley has not been signed yet. I sure hope this happens soon.2. With the recent signings of a QB, S, CB/S, TE, and now RB, the Falcons are primed to address the areas that the GM and HC have been saying are most important to team success via the draft: DL and OL. Dimitroff is taking a page out of the Patriots playbook by drafting linemen and mostly supplemented other positions via free agency. 3. With all the free agent activity thus far, there will definitely be more cuts to leave room to sign the draft picks...especially if we keep the #3 overall. Remember: "Thomas (Joe), slated to start at left tackle, can earn a maximum of $42.5 million over five years with incentives. Barring injury or poor play, Thomas is likely to make at least $33.5 million and he was guaranteed $23.5 million. A year ago, Young (Vince) received $26.1 million in guarantees, but that was on a six-year contract." Personally, I would like to see these players released next:Dunn (just makes sense but I wish he could stay)Forney(makes too much money and injury prone)Brooking(2nd highest paid LB in NFL...no way in the ****)Finneran(injuries...good receiver though)
KRUNKuno
yea, good eye. everybody's jumping for joy, but we're still a ways away. I'll admit, we're headed in tha right direction, but we need to hurry and release, restructure, and re-sign.
blizzard_falcon
We'll re-sign Boley. I mean, we HAVE to.We will resign Davis and Koenen, too.As far as cuts, here's what I think:Brooking, Horn, and Dunn - They will either be restructured or cut. I'm hoping all three are merely restructured, because I'd like to have all three around for one more season.I don't think Finneran, Forney, or Harrington will be released until training camp. We need camp bodies to come in and compete! If we sign anyone else in free agency, I hope it's Maurice Williams! We might also take a look at a DE or DT just to provide some more depth in one of our weaker areas.Does anyone know if there is a decent MLB available in free agency right now? If not, you'd have to expect us to draft one in the middle rounds this year (Goff, Mayo, Hall)...But, overall, I think things are looking up! I like where the team is headed, and I have this feeling that this year's draft is going to be just as good or better than last year's! Ran-dawg
We put a high tender on Boley so it will make it hard for someone to sign him. It is not reported that he has even talked to anyone which is good. I think he will be signed once we make another round of cuts. I really think he is a very high priority. We knew we can match anything someone was to try to give him so we went after free agents first. I don't have any doubts at all that he will be a Falcon for many years to come. Doctors say he's good to go from his neck injury that caused him to get released and sit out last season. http://milehightd.com/2008/01/12/al-wilson...o-play-in-2008/
Boley59
We still have lots of work to do, but we have made some good adds and need to keep adjusting the roster to make room for signing boley and picks. I am impressed that we were really able to real in Turner and get some quality players without overspending to badly.
dirtycanadianbird
In my opinion alot of the things left unresolved were left because of this signing.Ie: Signing Turner instead of Mcfadden effects the cap, so now that we have a cheaper answer at rb some other important moves can be made. Possibly a trade down to pick up 2 late first rounds ???? I would still like to draft a DT early but a trade is possible too.
