Really great pick-up. A lot of money though.

6 year/$34.5 million. $15 mil guaranteed.

I would say this is the beginning to designating the direction the falcons are going in the draft and what they want to do financially. Obviously we will not draft McFadden and with that large of a contract to Turner, it takes a lot of the money needed to sign a #3 overall (maybe QB?) and DHall.

The third pick now looks like a really attractive place to trade down, which we should if Jake Long isn't available. I bet someone like the Jets or Ravens might be willing to trade up to grab McFadden or Dorsey. It would be nice to pick up an extra second or third round pick after having added some good pieces in the draft last year. We could have a very solid young team.

Wanting to trade down and being able to are very different things, I believe no one in the top 8 has traded down for the last five years. Personally I think that's there so much more value in the lower down picks that I'd ignore Jimmy Johnson's old chart and take a low 1st and a 2nd or 3rd, assuming someone would even offer us that.

There's a reason that mostly the same teams stay towards the top and bottom year after year, the successful teams aren't tying up big $$$ in guys who turn out to be total busts 50% of the time.

Won't surprise me if Dunn winds up a Patriot.

i like our chances to trade down. the last team to do it in the top 10 period was the lions trading down 1 spot to the browns. but I think its very realistic for us to trade down and pick up at least a 2nd, with us maybe giving up a 4 to compensate.

You know, even if we can't find a suitor for the #3 pick, I would be happy with whatever player we'd be able to get with that pick.

Yet MT was less money than Faneca, and Faneca is a lineman.

YOu have to subtract DUnn's contract from that cap space you mention. ..
