Dimitroffisoursavior
If the Patriots traded for DHall and we got the #7 Pick who do you think we woulddraft at 3 and 7.
Curufin
They wouldn't give Samuel a 10 mill contract why would they give up a first round pick and still have to give Hall 10 mill?
hornsmd
Easy. I would take Dorsey and Clady.
Skip2MyLou13
id take mcfadden and either long, clady, or ellis

jidady
Two of Dorsey, Ellis, McFadden, Clady, and the Longs. If we sign Turner, #3 would be Dorsey while #7 would be anyone else listed above who would be available except Ellis (with Trey Lewis, that would be overkill at DT). If we don't sign Turner, I take McFadden #3 and whichever one of the d-linemen slides to #7. What I would really do is deal down from #3 multiple times and plan on the #7 pick being our highest selection. We could load up on picks in that scenario. FalconsFan123
Dimitroffisoursavior (3/1/2008)Im say take 3rd-Jake Long7th-Matt RyanAgreed, then:Pick 2-34: Brandon Flowers - CB (Replacement for Hall)Pick 2-48: Trevor Laws - DT (Starting DT and will make Anderson better)and if we sign Turner, we will be looking pretty good. 1989Fan
If I had the 3 and 7, I would take Dorsey @ 3 and then Ryan at 7 if he fell. He wont fall that far though, so I would take Clady probably.Build the lines, or get your franchise QB...thats the only options IMO.
falcon_91
3- Sederick Ellis - although i try to trade down with bengals for a 1st + 2nd7 - Ryan Clady
FalconsFan123
grendel (3/1/2008)Dimitroffisoursavior (3/1/2008)Im say take 3rd-Jake Long7th-Matt RyanIt would be hard to mess up a draft with a #3 and a #7, but you managed it.So you are saying that by filling our two biggest needs (OT and QB) with the best players in those positions is a mistake? In all honesty, I would love to then trade down that #7 pick for more picks and then pick up Brian Brohm, but the likelyhood of that happening is 0%. Heck, the scenario of getting pick #7 for Hall is also almost impossible, but the question regarded two top 10 picks and who you would get with them. Not trade down. scott24falcs
3rd- Chris Long7th- Sedrick Ellis, but a more realistic pairing would be:3rd- Glenn Dorsey7th- Ryan Clady
FalconsFan123
1989fan (3/1/2008)Build the lines, or get your franchise QB...thats the only options IMO.Exactly, without a good O-Line, we will never be able to get a good assesment of our QBs and RBs. Plus, a good O-Line will improve your QB and RB, and your entire offense for that matter. Now on the other hand, building a good D-Line is very imperative as well and getting pressure on the QB and stopping the run game, will make our LBs and Corners that much better. With a good O-Line, you can control what you do and with a good D-Line you can control what your opponent does.
FalconsFan123
grendel (3/1/2008)Our 2 biggest needs are LT and franchise QB. Long isn't a LT. Ryan isn't a franchise QB, despite what Mike Mayock says. So yes, that would be a mistake. So, Mike Mayock and every other Draft Analysis who have Long as the best OT and Ryan as the best QB are wrong? Cause every credible analysist has them at the top of their positions. What did Long play in college? Answer: LT. Long will play LT in the NFL as well. Long is far more skilled then the next tackle, it is not even close. Now Ryan, is a different story, but when it comes down to it, he will be the first QB taken. hornsmd
I agree with Grendel, Long is going to be a better RT than LT. He compares to Gallery IMO. Ryan may not have had talent at BC but that still doesn't explain his high interception ratio in the weak ACC this year. Dorsey and Clady both fits needs and we still have the firepower to trade up to get Brohm in latter half of the 1st if need be.
scott24falcs
I think I would really be tempted to get Dorsey AND Ellis (assuming both were available). I know that may seem like overkill, but how great would it be to have a DT rotation of: Glenn Dorsey, Sedrick Ellis, Trey Lewis, Jonathan Babineaux, etc. I think I would take my chances on a good LT being available in the 2nd. FalconsFan123
grendel (3/1/2008)I'm not going to go through the whole discussion we've had here 20 times about Jake Long. Go look up the names Kirk DeCremer and Jonal Saint-Dic. I'm not sure if it will help if you didn't watch Jake Long against Wisconsin, Mich. St., Ohio State, and Florida though.I don't want to get into an argument either. But, I strongly feel that Long will remain a LT. At 6'7 315, he has the size, strength, speed, and skill to play LT and he showed all that at the combine. Plus, he showed such passion for the position in his interview and said he wants to remain there. Matt Light of the Patriots, who is arguably one of the best LTs in the League is 6'4 305, very comparable to Jake Long's size. I guess we will see soon enough, but I would want Long guarding our QB's blind side (assuming he is Right handed). Sorry, but that is just my honest opinion. FalconsFan123
grendel (3/1/2008)Size has little to do with it. There's lots of guys who are the right size and build who can't play LT, including guys who came out of the draft as highly touted OT prospects. Combine measurements are all well and good, but what really matters is what happens in the games, and that's where Long has stuggled against speed rushers.Struggled? Two sacks in 4 years at Michigan. putnam6
I think the Falcons need to get 2 starters if they pick 3 and 7 and while it's debatable where Long actually plays Ryan is still to big of a ? mark especially on a team with so many needs I'd prefer a defensive pick if #3 is Jake Long. thanat0s
I'm probably going...McFadden/Claddy, Dorsey/Ryan, or Jake Long/RyanI can't say I'd complain about any of those combinations...The idea of the Pats wanting D Hall isn't all that hard to imagine. Would they part with #7 overall for him? That's harder to imagine...
Mr. Offseason
It would be hard to mess up a draft with a #3 and a #7, but you managed it.hahahahahahahahahahahahah god. i just thought that was hilarious. it seems the later i stay up the funnier things seem to be.oh well, id probably take ellis and clady. but id prefer to trade down from #7 with ellis in the bag to perhaps 12 to snag brohm, or further down and look at brohm if available or jonathan stewart or chris williams. in the process adding additional picks later. Having said that, I admit that my gut would twist a bit at seeing McFadden on the board and passing him up. Anyone else wouldn't bother me, but there's something about that guy... ziggy58
I agree that Long will be a better right tackle than left. Michigan tackles seem to move to the right side. I can think of two PRO BOWL tackles that played for Michigan(Jansen and Runyun. When I was growing up I wanted linemen from Pittsburg. Take the best D lineman. Take Howies son!!!
