If more than 1 team is after a FA all you have to do is offer them more money than the other team. Do you think, for example, Turner will say, "well lets see, the Falcons offered 6 million a year and a dinner so I'll sign with them over the Dolphins offer of 8 million a year and no dinner"?

Screw the dinner. If you're in battle with another team over a FA you just sign that FA to a contract larger than what the other team is offering. Nothing hard about that.

I see what you're saying and can agree a little but do you think having dinner will hurt our chance of signing him?

I believe that some of Blank's critics would privately tell you that part of their problems with Blank is him getting too close to the players. This is just my opinion, but I feel strongly about it.

It is a pretty stressful thing, but I know as a salesman myself (not currently working in sales) it helps to keep the customer around for a while and let them get use to the surroundings and see all of whome the person may have an impact on with their chosen product. My favorite move was to allow the customer to take the product home for a day or two so that they would mentally take possession of said product.[/quote]

ah yes. the puppy dog close.

Give ol Michael a bag of peaches and pecans and send him back home to Illinois

don't be crazy....if there is one thing Blank knows how to do, it's closing a deal. You don't get to where he is without knowing how to get what you need

Well you could say that about every Owner or atleast most Owners. They all are usually get businessmen, but Blank hasn't been money on closing the deals this off-season which I can't say is his fault.

I'm a Blank critic and I agree he has gotten in the way, way too many times since he's taking over as our owner but I don't see much wrong with him taking Turner out to dinner. But I agree with you 100% that Blank needs to fallback more.

I was kinda just joking anyway. All I was doing was working across the street. I didn't see anyone or anything other than the house. It was a light orange color at Carolina Beach in NC. Thats all I can help you with. ;)

Blank and his "dinner hostings" has a sickening feeling to it. I wish he'd keep his nose out of it.
Why? Blank has a fairly decent record of closing the deal with free agents. Why take the guy (Blank) out of doing one of the things as an owner that he's accomplished at performing?
Agree, as long as it's the football people telling him who he should be taking to dinner, I'm ok with it.

Here is what I think

Turner and his agent are camping in Atlanta

waiting on offers from Falcons and other teams

If Detroit, Chicago, etc. make an offer they can go back to Atlanta and say beat that

why move around until the pot gets stirred a little

Not a sure thing that he is signing by eating with Artie

I don't see the problem here. TD and Smith are the ones targeting and bringing in the Free agents so once they get in town they hand it over to the owner to try and close the deal.

Players that realize the owner of the team actually gives a **** and is trying to do the best for the players is a GOOD thing.

Everything helps, and Blank courting these players is a positive for our team. There is no harm in the common knowledge that our teams owner is willing to help his players and is willing to do what ever it takes to win.

Gritz,

I found this post on the Chargers MB, contrary to what the haters portray Mr Blank as being meddlesome and inept, the word around the NFL is QUITE DIFFERENT.

I thought this was a nice comment about Turner coming here and about AB.

Pasted from the Chargers MB:

quote: "Although we would all like to have had the planets somehow align so that Michael could remain a Charger, if we had to lose him, I am glad it is to a team like Atlanta for the following reasons: a) despite the Falcons' obvious problems of late, there are worse people to work for than Arthur Blank; B) again, despite their obvious problems, they also know (or at least knew) how to run the ball a little bit . . . a very good thing for Turner's prospects for Pro Bowl numbers; and c) being in the NFC, we won't see him often. I hate it when former Chargers come back to haunt them."

So, this will give the Blank haters something to choke on don't you think?

I think the legalities are being worked out, the signing is imminent, we will have won in FA, but HUGE this time. Kudos to Thomas Dimitroff.

Again, look at this video of Turner, he is the stud RB we never had, always needed. Turner and Norwood will be an amazing pair of RB's. If Micchael Turner gets into a 1 on 1 in the secondary, look out dude, the steamroller is coming.

Gritz, we get a huge winner in turner, and we avoid getting into a startup with an obviously complicated Run DMC.

DMC sounds to be as wise as YKW. 3 pregnancies at the same time, you gotta be kidding me, nobody can be that wise? Well, I know one other guy who screwed himsself like that but he's in prison right now.

Michael Turner will be the new FACE we needed, fans will align to support MT, we will win.

I cant remember anyone who got dinner with blank and did not sign.I also cant remember anyone finding fault with blank for how it goes down other than message board talent scouts.
Well I have thought that we'd grab M. Williams for a while. I also think that Turner will be announced as a Falcon before 7pm. The other guys Coleman, Von whosit(???), and the TE will probably come right after.

It's not hard to sign FA's. They couldn't care less about the dinner, unless you're serving lots of greens (if you know what I mean).

Greens........you mean weed!!!! Just kidding i know what you mean!!:P
