Purple Label
These guys are quietly building that front seven. They won't have no problems stopping the run now. Basically the team is still together, and the defense is getting better.
cmichels
Yep.Lions to get Bodden and 3rd-rounder?by Tom Kowalski Friday February 29, 2008, 9:38 PMIt has not been confirmed yet, but a league source said the Lions are very close to finalizing a deal that will send Shaun Rogers to the Cleveland Browns for veteran cornerback Leigh Bodden and a third-round draft pick.Details are still sketchy, but the original trade that sent Rogers to the Cincinnati Bengals for a third- and fifth-round pick did not go through. For severals days prior to Friday, the Browns had been the most interested in dealing for Rogers. Bodden had been mentioned as part of the deal. With veteran free agent cornerbacks Brian Kelly and Drayton Florence both looking for high-dollar contracts, the Lions wanted to land a veteran cornerback in a deal for Rogers. Jerry Maguire
jidady (2/29/2008)Shaun Rogers...and the player Cleveland gave up, Leigh Bodden, is really good. After getting Corey Williams, I think they really messed up with this move. You need help in the secondary and give up a good player there and another pick.
bossFALCON™
the browns are really trying to be active this year.

You need help in the secondary and give up a good player there and another pick. It's a masterful deal for the Lions. They were getting a 3rd and a 5th. That was the #76 and a 5th. Now, they get the #87 and Leigh Bodden. I'm confused about Cleveland's decision here, but they are now really good at DT if Rogers plays hard. I guess they decided sacrificing a fine corner was worth it as they don't need to be as good in the secondary with this type of d-line. What's odd is that Cleveland now is in the situation generally reserved for Washington. They don't have a pick in the first 3 rounds. TheDirtyWordII
If I'm not mistaken, the Browns don't have a pick until Round 4 now...1st rounder - Brady Quinn2nd rounder - Corey Williams3rd rounder - Shawn Rodgers

jidady
That's certainly where my mind went. Leigh Bodden isn't a guy you just discard without a backup plan. I'm wondering who they see on the free agent market if it's not Hall.

They aint going to have many picks left. :P no first and no third. :P
Dem Birds
Leigh Bodden is a great cornerback, I cannot beleive they made that trade. Stupid, stupid trade. (I wish I would have known Bodden was attainable for the right price, I would have been petitioning for him if we trade Hall.
Serge Storms
My God, Cleveland got shafted. Bodden was way too good to trade for an underperformer like Rodgers.

Serge Storms
Bodden is in a completely different class, Rodgers hasn't been good enough to trade for an elite cornerback in years.

I believe they were last in the league until like week 12 or something. Solidifying the D-line was a smart move.
Mr. Offseason
they now have the NT position filled, which is absolutely huge. they also have another good 3-4 DE, which is huge. they made 2 big additions and thats great for them.i dont think they have a pick until the 4th round now though.
