Updating a previous report, Adam Schefter, of NFL.com, reports Atlanta Falcons have re-signed unrestricted free-agent QB Chris Redman to a two-year deal worth $5 million. The contract also includes $3 million in escalators.

It doesn't look that dumb to me. If you perform well in any job, you often get bonuses. We signed Byron "long pause" Sandwich $6 mill for 1.25 games effort. That was dumb. Even when everyone in the media said no one would be stupid enough, we did it and Pigtrino made him the starter without him even taking a snap in a game. That was my second clue that the Pigtrino era was going to come crashing down quickly -- the first was the first game where the players were pathetically prepared.

We are paying our starting qb about a 2.5 mill a year if he sucks...and about 4 mill a year if he's good...that's very reasonable.

lol i wish i could get paid 2.5 mil for sucking. that sounds like a pretty good job to me. i would ride the bench all year long and hold the clipboard.

think about it , theres other players on this team that get paid even more for sucking worse

Wow what a whopping contract! Not! The incetives probably are if he starts. So he will likely made $2.5 a year. Thats about average for a backup QB in the NFL.

Who knew -- ok, maybe some of you. But from the AJC.com headline ...

Falcons re-sign QB who started final four games and passed for 1,079 yards with 10 TDs.

So, in a perfect world, Redman would have passed for over 4,000 yards and 40 TDs. Ok, I know it's very hypothetical. But those are pretty nice stats for 4 games. If we had a working running game (which we did the last two), we might of won all 3 of games -- although, I'm glad we didn't for the draft purpose.

Happy to hear we re-signed Redman. With a real running threat -- Turner -- and an improved O-line -- he should be quite a serviceable QB while we train up our young QB draft pick. I would hope Harrington gets the axe over shockley -- but neither of them seem important to this franchise any more.

Thanks Goldfry --- your right I'm an idiot. Why don't you educate us?

what an a$$. I know we didn't pay him the full amount but he was signed to a two year deal at 2.35 MM per year + a roster bonus if he was still with us on March 1.
