Abe
Not a Georgia homer but the kid is ALWAYS in the right place when it comes to having a nose for the football... Some guys are workout wonders others are FOOTBALL players. We could move Brook to weakside again and obviously Boley to strong... I just think he is a cheap hidden gem type of player. Any opinions on it? Edited December 23, 2010 by Abe
etherdome
The only person that can answer that question is Tony Taylor
scott hartley
I don't think he could ever be dominant, but I think he can play and not embarrass us as bad as brooking.
Sun Tzu 7
Abe (2/29/2008)Not a Georgia homer but the kid is ALLWAYS in the right place when it comes to having a nose for the football... Some guys are workout wonders others are FOOTBALL players. We could move Brook to weakside again and obviously Boley to strong... I just think he is a cheap hidden gem type of player. Any opinions on it?ALWAYS in the right place? When did he play last year? I must have missed that.If you're talking about when he was at GA you need to go ahead and stop. College isn't the NFL. DefenseWinzCliche
Seems like injury is always going to be a major question mark for Tony. He's definately one of those guys who wouldnt shock you if he became a solid NFL player. He just never seemed to miss assignments, never missed tackles, and was a BEAST in pass coverage. Noles1985!
Hartley are you just plain stupid brooking has averaged 100+ tackles a year what games have you been watching or have you watched any at all? Since you have not watched any games he led the team in tackles last year.

I thought he got lasik surgery what is the problem?

rugger8
(edit: I meant to quote the comment defending Brooking on page one... but the board won't let me delete and repost.)Yeah, but they were all 10 yards past the line of scrimmage. lolJust kidding. I agree with you. He's past his prime, and out of position, but Brooking past his prime and out of position is still better than half the starters in the league. malk2.0
I dont know about tony taylor but we do need someone to come in and be our MLB, we also need a WLB. Brooking is decent but he doesnt make much of an impact.

It's looking like our starting corners are going to be 2nd year players and one of them struggles in zone coverage. So between not being able to generate a pass rush and not being able to cover we're going to be asking the linebackers to do alot. They are going to have to blitz and they are going to have to drop into coverage quite a bit.Good thing we have a DC with two years of experience coaching in the NFL. Good thing it was linebackers.Honestly it probably doesn't matter who is in the middle because we're going to struggle regardless.

He also sucks at covering backs out of the backfield in pass coverage when playing the weak side so it would be best to purge his ridiculous salary. Abe
i guess if we are going to TRY and be like New England then we will start having to give some of these unproven guys a chance to save us money and build a great team. They go with vets at that position and usually bring in free agents.I don't even remember them even drafting a line backer.

As an underclassman Thurman played MLB and TT played Sam and Will at UGA, and was recruited by BVG our new DC which ran a cover 2 base. Once Thurman went pro TT moved to his natural position of mike and did very well he was a run stuffer and dropped back into zone very well he has the speed to handle it. He also is good at blitzing and he also can shed blocks well. Now take this was all in college but if not for health problems that I think were mostly from playing out of position and just bad luck I think he would have been a much higher draft pick as he was every bit as good as Thurman who went as a 1st day draft pick.
