Based on what? He has been a huge disappointment in Oakland that is why they are shopping him. He is still under his rookie contract.

Well think about it he was playing for oakland the same team randy moss was playing for a couple years ago,he went to NE and look what he did, who's to say the same couldn't happen for huff in a different place?

But Moss went for a 4th round pick. I don't think the Raiders would settle for a 4th for Huff because he's still fairly young and relatively cheap. Maybe they would take a 4th, but I don't think they would do it until draft day.

You can not compare Randy Moss and Michael Huff. Randy is a beast has proved that before going to Oakland. He went there for the money. Between the coaching changes and anemic offense, he started giving minimum effort. He was a different player because he was on a winner, had a future HOF QB throwing him record touchdown catches.

As far as Huff goes we can say that he ...., well that is about all we can say about Huff.

No real comparison

Word out of oakland is al davis is wanting to shop huff out of oakland,he would be a great grab but for what price?

boss your just hearing this ?.....i posted this last week

Two league sources tell the Oakland Tribune's Jerry McDonald that it's "no secret" Raiders S Michael Huff is on the trade block.

Huff is going to be hard to trade with that $43 million rookie deal he signed in 2006. It's very surprising that the Raiders would be looking to unload Huff with no viable alternative behind him. Oakland needs a hitter at strong safety so Huff can move to center field and capitalize on his strengths.

the only thing is his salary....Signed a six-year, $43 million contract

dr neckbone what is a bust to you. He is a young safety that acutally understands what a safety is unlike all three of ours that played this year. Last year he had 85 tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, 1 int, and 11 passes defended. He understands at a young age what a safety is and that is to help over the top with corners. That would be a great pick up with our young corner and it would also allow D Hall to jump alot more routes because he has a safety that plays the position right(Over the top).

Wow that was his rookie contract? Al Davis paid Huff like he was a pro bowl vet coming out of college.

Huff was highly regarded as a draft prospect, but I have heard nothing but criticism of him since his rookie season. Before we go for a name, we should think about it.

I'm sure that as a top 10 pick a large part of that $43 million was a signing bonus which will not be the responsibility of the team that aquires him.

Huff was highly regarded as a draft prospect, but I have heard nothing but criticism of him since his rookie season. Before we go for a name, we should think about it.

The key is the raised expectations that come with a top 10 draft pick. Huff has started 32 games and recorded about 160 tackles while playing out of position at strong safety. I would definitely get on the phone with Oakland to see what his contract is like and what they would want in return. Huff might not cost any more than the free agents we are looking at to fill the FS position, and he's much more talented.

Trade us Huff for an exchange of 1st round picks. The only person I think we should consider in the top-5 is Jake Long, and I have long been opposed to this simply b/c of the depth at OT in this draft. Moving from 5 to 3 would intrigue Oakland, as it would solidify thier posturing ability in either drafting Ellis/Dorsey to pair with "the newly wealthy" Tommy Kelley, or possibly trading it if their is a buyer on Run DMC. This also gives us a minimal investment at stake if Huff doesn't work and is a 'bust.'

This seems like a bust proof-deal to me, b/c it provides value to the one team (Oakland) while cushioning the other against serious loss if the player doesn't work out. You know a team like the Raiders would love to make a move for salary cap relief, with the Kelley contract encroaching on whatever their FA budget was in the first place.

This isn't a horrible idea, in my mind, for the Falcons. Some say Huff has softened, but I remember his days with the 'Horns when he was a seriously hard hitting ball-hawk who looked like he would excell in Smith's Zone-2-type of defense. With Madieu Williams (sp?) from Cincy inking up with the 'Vikes, I think the FA FS market will dwindle the fastest of all the need positions that the Falcons will be trying to address in FA/Draft. :w00t:

The only way I would make the trade with Oakland is if we waited until it was our turn to draft and no one else made a better offer. I still think we might get some action if we stay at 3.

I see that as a very good trade for us. We only drop down one spot as Oakland picks #4 yet we get a two year NFL starter who went #7 overall just two years ago.

I think salary here is a big issue. Does anyone know what his contract structure is? I believe that if he had a big bonus, we would only be on the hook for his base salary. Ex: If he got a $13 million bonus, we would be looking at a cap hit closer to $5 million a year rather than $7 million [still a lot].
