Faine to Tampa

That $44 million in cap space has burned a hole in the pockets of the Buccaneers.

Stephen Holder of the St. Petersburg Times reports that the Bucs have reached an agreement with free-agent center Jeff Faine, previously of the Saints.

Per Holder, the deal makes Faine the highest-paid center in the game.

This actually was a shrewd move by the Bucs, especially considering

they are $44 million under the cap. They've spent the past

3 years building one of the better lines in the league with Davin Joseph,

Arron Sears, and Jeremy Treblood. Faine was by far the best center in

his draft class and certainly among the better centers in the entire league

in my opinion. I also think it will be a huge loss for the Saints. The Saints

might have franchised him, but would had to have offered him a contract

comparable to the top 5 linemen in the league, not just centers.
