Daniel Chosen
Just saw it on NFL Live. They said they moved him from DE to DT and gave him a deal that will make him the highest paid DT in the league, 7 year $50.5 mil. I can't say I know much about him at all, but it seems pretty crazy to me, and I think the guys on NFL Live shared the same sentiments. These are exactly the kind of decisions I hope the Falcons stay away from. Here's the link to the story
sporkdevil
AGREED! I will be happy if for 5 years I don't have to hear:"The Atlanta Falcons have made ______ the highest paid _______ in NFL history"Ovie sure paid off last year.... Our run game...... um.... But I think you have to really pay some bigger money to keep your good players on a team that has been a disappointment for years on end. No more needs to be said about that, we have had a much better past few seasons.
Absolute
To me, this is a dumb move and shows how out of touch the Raiders are with the league these days. Why would you pay a guy coming off of a serious knee injury, the highest contract ever for a DT? He is also moving over from DE to replace Sapp. Obviously, he wasn't good enough to beat him out but they are paying him more than any DT ever! Strange but coming from the Raiders, I can't say I am surprised. They are gonna be the only team in history to start a season without a coach! Daniel Chosen
Absolute (2/29/2008)They are gonna be the only team in history to start a season without a coach!LOL. I agree though, glad to see the Falcons haven't made any ridiculous kinds of moves yet this year.
1989Fan
Kelly is the next Rod Coleman. He will dominate as a UT. He was being played out of position @ DE.I agree they overpaid though...especially with him coming off a major knee injury. He is getting more than Corey Williams will get from CLE (5 years, 38M)
cheaton
The league should force Al Davis to give up control of that football team. He's really got no idea what he's doing anymore. He can own it, but he should be made to put someone else in charge of operations. He's totally lost it. A team with that many problems and he's signing a DE/DT to a $50 million, 7 year deal. Exactly the kind of thing a senile old man would do.
