What does the "quiet" mean???

I'm beginning to think that nothing is headed our way during Free Agency. Things have been very quiet with no rumors floating around of anyone that is significant coming to ATL. I think TD may be going to sit on the sidelines and wait for the big fish to get reeled in elsewhere before he goes after anyone. It might not be a bad gameplan to let the bidding wars get over with and pick up anyone that's worth it at bargain prices.

1 It hasn't started yet.

2 If names leaked out and came true, it's called tampering.

3 Your probably right about not bidding too fast and paying too much

well, in one of my earlier threads below - AJC coverage of Falcons is embarrasing.

one thing me and my friend discuss(its always Falcons 365 24/7:)) is this:

if your a free agent and you can get big dollars anywhere, why are you coming to the Atlanta Falcons in 2008? Other than the Dolphins, we have the worst team, with the least buzz and no real star power......there will probably be 5-6 blackouts this year if we don't sign McFadden(i'm not saying sign him-just saying we have no box office draw).

If you were Michael Turner(RB/Chargers), why would you come to Atlanta when you could go to the Chicago Bears?

If you were Alan Faneca(OG/Jets), why would you come to Atlanta when you could go to the Arizona Cardinals and your old coach, Ken Whisenhunt? yes, even the Cardinals are better than Falcons now - sad, but true?

in other words, my point is this franchise is a "mess" and it will take 2 good drafts before it will be an "attractive" place for top free agents to come.......we will maybe be able to get some "mid-tier" guys this year but might have to overpay - Atlanta is just a "tough sell" right now for players......

Why would Faneca and Turner want to come to Atlanta? Easy. We have cap room to pay them what they want.

Why would we want to overpay to get a couple of guys when we aren't going to be very good this year or next anyway? Why not wait and keep the cap room, then go after some great free agents to supplement what we need in 2010? Plus we'll know more about the next 2 drafts pan out by that point.
