g-dawg
I was solidly on taking either 1a) Jake Longor1b) Glen DorseyNow, until further developments on Glen Dorsey's health, he gets pushed down the draft board - there is still time in next 58 days to get pushed back up if medical opinions on Dorsey's injuries/history improve.I just think there is very good chance that Jake Long will go #2 overall to the Rams. I think Rams draft board was 1) Chris Long, 2)Glen Dorsey and 3) Jake Long - before Dorsey's injury. After, Jake moves up to #2. I also think that the Dolphins will most likely take Chris Long at #1 if they stick at the pick. If, by chance, the Dolphins trade the pick to the Cowboys, then I think the Rams take Chris Long and the Falcons jump on Jake Long at #3. Assuming no trades:1) Miami - Chris Long, DE-Virginia2) Atlanta - Jake Long, OT-MichiganThis leaves Atlanta picking between Darren McFadden, Matt Ryan, Glen Dorsey and Sed-Ellis. Healthy, I might rank Dorsey #1, McFadden a close #2, Sed Ellis #3 and Matt Ryan a distant #4. Having said that, Dorsey seems at this point to possibly be "damaged goods".I am very concerned about McFadden's character misgivings, and this alone would be understandable for Falcons not to draft McFadden. However, he is by far superior to Ryan/Dorsey and a real game changer. Also, McFadden would put "butts in the seats" but mainly he would just be a better pick than the others. I am somewhat concerned with the "skinny/dead leg" theory of Mike Mayock but I think Mayock is overstating it somewhat. As far as character, I think Falcons take a "hard-line" with McFadden in the contract on "character clauses" and make the contract where it could cost himself a lot of money for indescretions......McFadden is a young man that needs to grow up. Michael Vick never did grow up and is now paying an ultimate price. It would be risky for Falcons to put themselves in position to have a bad result with McFadden - but I think its a good risk if he checks out "OK" after extensive background checks......I fully believe the Falcons will do a lot of "due diligence" before they would take him......Just look at the difference in the first three picks with different combinations:1st-Darren McFadden, RB-Arkansas2nd-Sam Baker or Anthony Collins, LT2nd-Joe Flacco or Chad Henne, QB3rd-Trevor Laws or Red Bryant, DTOR1st-Matt Ryan, QB-Boston College2nd-Sam Baker or Anthony Collins, LT2nd-Pat Sims or Trevor Laws, DT3rd-Matt Forte or Jamal Charles, RBOR1st-Sedrick Ellis, DT-USC2nd-Sam Baker or Anthony Collins, LT2nd-Joe Flacco or Chad Henne, QB3rd-Matt Forte or Jamal Charles, RB

Tuggle'2
I agree with your acessment! I think people need to stop finding all these excsues as to why not to pick him. This is not a very heavy offensive draft. This guys talent is unbelievable. I mean what else does the guy have to do. I just believe that when your this high in the draft and you have a chance to grab a game changer you do it. And mcfadden is a game changer. No matter what qb we have the defense will automatically plan for d-mac more than say dunn. Just like they plan for norwoods 8 touches a game cause he is a game changer, now they have to respect the run the whole game cause both of them can do it at any moment! Big Duke 6
I was down on dmc this weekend after the babys moma drama but now I dont think hes that much more a risk than most 21 year old millionaires.I think if peterson hadnt come out last year he would be higher. What are the odds of back to back studs?I thought peterson was the best player in last years draft and I feel the same way on dmc. g-dawg
obviously I meant above with no trades that:1) Miami-Chris Long2) St. Louis-Jake Long (above says ATL - mistake)I still want Jake Long as #1 on Falcons board but don't expect him to be available - if not and we don't get Michael Turner as free agent - then let's go ahead and take McFadden - warts and all - just threaten to beat the sheot out of him and take away all his money if he misbehaves:D
