Seriously, stop calling Hall a "Shut Down" corner... he is not!!!

Before you hit reply and call me a newb, I have been on this board a looooong time. Unfortunately, my account was not migrated and I can not use my old screename of "Silverback".

Anyway, Hall is a good player. However, he is NOT a "Future HOFer" or "the best defensive player we have" as I have seen stated. If you had to pick out best defensive player, you would be hard pressed to pick anyone other than Michael Boley or a healthy Abe. Hall is a GOOD corner that thinks much more of his skills than most others do that are not wearing rose colored glasses. He gets burnt ALOT because he loses his cool or takes too many chances. He has a value right now, on the market... he does not want to stay, and I for one, don't want to keep him if he doesn't want to stay... that is an ugly situation. We have a ton of issues to address on this team... having Hall and his attitude does not help. Dimitroff will trade him, because he has to. We can get Foxworth from DEN in FA, he will be just as effective as Hall. Let him go, he is not Champ, McCallister, Mathis or even Samuel. He is a top 10 corner that is VERY unhappy being here, get a solid 1st and a player for him and move on.

If he stays... fine, I like watching him play. However, often I cringe on the deep ball because I've seen him get burnt too many times. On the other hand, if he gets shipped out... it is for a reason. He may be a great community asset for Atlanta, but is it possible his attitude is a negative in the lockeroom?

Make your call Thomas... Blank brought you in to bring an aire of expectation to this franchise. We are expecting something that we can be proud of...

When Hall is burnt it's usually our lack of a pass rush. In '04 Hall was just a rookie and played very well and we led the league in sacks. In 05-06 Hall was pretty good and we had a fair pass rush. Last year we had NO pass rush and Hall still didn't get burnt much.

He's only 24, getting better, and next year we should have a much improved pass rush.

In all seriousness, there's no longer any true shutdown corners in the NFL - all of the rule changes to help the offense make it impossible.

Even Bailey gets burned regularly - people just choose to ignore it. I remember back on MNF this season where he got toasted by a TE running a wheel route. Should a shutdown corner let that happen? Absolutely not...

ok before you posted this, u should of thought about what u said...dhall is 24 years old right, dhall has been to 2 probowls right..he still has at least 10 or more years of play left in him..unless you followed champ bailey and other elite corners in this league, i bet any kind of money they didnt start out as a "shutdown corner"..the players you named have been in the league for a while, while dhall is still young and has very top notch talent. at the age of 24, how in **** can u say he will not be a hall of famer? are u looking into the future and actually know what stats he will put up. come back in 10 years and then say if he will be a hall of famer or not.

I'm sorry, 1 TD given up in 16 games and he went up against some of the best, how is that not a shutdown corner? You're nuts if you don't think he's top 5 in the league. Teams ALWAYS pick on our 2nd corner because they fear Hall. Just imagine life with Jason Webster and Lewis Sanders starting at each spot and you'll start to get the picture of life without Hall... But hey, we'll save cap space right!? As long as we have that cap space, I don't mind giving up 3 50+ yard TDs a game.

When we said he was available for trade SEVEN teams were seriously interested in him, including the Super Bowl Champs and the first seed in the NFC last year... I guess that's because D. Hall just sucks right?

NOT A VERY SMART FIRST POST. YOU CAN'T STOP ANYONE FROM CALLING HIM A SHUT DOWN CORNER. JUST AS NO ONE CAN STOP YOU FROM CALLING YOURSELF "VANQUISHED." WHICH MEANS YOU HAVE BEEN DEFEATED .................... :)
his name is vanquish. that would mean 'to defeat' or 'to conquer' if I'm not mistaken.

WELL said! Asante plays on a team that was 2nd in the league in sacks last year. If I'm not mistaken the Falcons ranked somewhere in the 20's? That makes a world of a difference for a cornerback. This is a big reason why I don't want Samuel on our team either, because I think a lot of what makes him look good is the pass rush in NE.

D. Hall needs to be resigned.

the thing i know is that when he is on the field teams do not like to throw at him. The best example i have for this is the Rams game this year, which i was at. After Hall had given up a couple of catches the Rams started to move Holt and Bruce around and picking on Houston the rest of the game. When the ballwas going to Holt he lined up on Houston and same went for Bruce. I am not trying to bash Houston in any way, i think he will be great in a few seasons, i am just pointing out that the Rams wanted nothing to do with Hall.

Hall is a top ten corner in the league, but shut down? I am a huge DeAngelo fan but he is far from shut down, he is too aggressive and is often caught biting on double moves and against top competition he seems very inconsistent, shut down Steve Smith (I will still maintain that did happen) shut down T.O. once but got smoked the second time, and not performing great against Chad Johnson. IMO the money would be better suited elsewhere (especially considering our move to the cover two) but I wish DeAngelo well.
