What should we get for D Hall

Recommended Posts

The Giants deal -- 1st and 3rd rounder would be solid.

The Bills deal -- Losman + draft picks (hopefull 2nd and maybe 3rd or 4th)

Basically, at least a 1st rounder or decent player + later picks.

I like the idea of additional draft picks, reduction of next year's salary cap stress, and, for that matter, I think D-Hall is just young and cocky -- so, I hold nothing against him. I just want to get something good for him.

It will help the locker room to move on.

You won't get more than a second from him.

He only has one year left on his contract, and has already spoken that he wants to hit free agency to get a blockbuster contract.

Let Atlanta keep him for another year, sign him in the offseason NEXT year after his stats have dropped and his attitude has gotten worse, ruining his contract leverage.

Don't make me come over there.

I would be surprised if we could manage more than a 2nd round pick for the guy at this point. As of a few weeks ago, I thought we might be able to snag a high first or a first and a third. With him running his mouth lately, and talking up how big of a contract he wants, I don't think we will get much out of him now.

How can you have decent player and JP Losman in the same post?

Losman is a mistake and a half. If we traded for him we'd have to extend him. He's not going to take 2 million per. So we'll have to give him a decent sized deal. Then we'll be stuck with him riding the pine for a 4th round QB we draft in two years. He's sub par and belongs nowhere near this team. I'd rather draft Matt Ryan and I dont even like Matt Ryan.

Read the other threads that discuss Losman -- I personally don't like the idea of signing a longterm deal (2-3 year) with Losman. He's no better than Redman or Harrington, but the folks on this board that have made an argument for Losman, have provided a pretty good facts to back up their argument.

Nonetheless, I don't see that deal happening. The only deal I see happening would be a trade for draft picks to either Dallas or Giants. They are the only ones that seem willing to deal with Hall's antics.

And IMO Dimitroff is looking at this deal for three reasons: (1) clear the locker room of those that caused grief this past year, (2) we could use as many quality draft picks as possible, and (3) the future salary cap hit will be substantial -- do you tie up that much in a cornerback?

Finally, I should add that -- no one is discussing the possibility that DHall will stay for another year to finish his contract and then go after the big payday. That would be good for Hall and bad for the Falcons (that's if we don't want to pay him what he will demand -- which will be inflated next year).

I think if DHall does stay, he'll have better stats this year than he's had all his career. Simply because with you stregnthen the middle, you can stop the run better with the guys that should be doing that job (line and linebackers), and you get pressure on the QB. So, the guys on the corner get more opportunities.

I agree with your second and third points. I think the NFC East is the likeliest landing spot and after years of being a Pro-Hall guy I'm fed up. Its better for us to move him on and get something in return.

As for Losman...I've commented on other threads about him and the people that dont agree seem to not be able to back it up other than with his completion percentage. I've watched the guy almost every week since he's arrived in the league and he just isnt impressive. He might have completed 63 % of his passes but he was 41st (or something like that) in YAC because of his poor ball placement. He's Aaron Brooks. He's a poor mans Jake Delhomme. He makes sub par decisions with the football (including locking on receivers, forcing throws and taking bad bad bad sacks.).

I just think it would be a mistake. Unfortunately the Bills pick at 11 which is more than likely too high for Hall (not to mention him not being a very good system fit for them...and him wanting a big extension which they arent known to do). They do have an extra 3rd that could come into play (2nd and a 3rd maybe). I doubt he'll go there though.

He just told us that to get the big $$$. He'd sign a long term deal in a heartbeat. We got a better deal last year with Schaub. A higher 1st and a 3rd would be better. With that high 1st we could get DRC.
