D-Ray
Chad Henne, QB, MichiganName: Chad Henne (+) Coming off shoulder injuryCollege: Michigan Number: 7Height: 6-3 Weight: 228 Position: QB Pos2: Class/Draft Year: Sr/200840 Time: 40 Low: 4.98 40 High: 5.28 Projected Round: 1-2 Stock: Rated number 3 out of 111 QB's 30 / 2545 TOTAL 02/25/08 - The coach we talked to after he was done surveying the action sounded like a man who wants no part with any of the QB Class of 2008. He shared his assessment of the action: ``Awful. This is the worst I have seen. There were a lot of bad football players on that field. ``Matt Ryan didn t throw today. On film, I like him. I think he s the best of the bunch. But we haven t seen him yet. Brian Brohm threw today. I think he was OK but his arm is just too weak and might not be enough at the pro level. But he didn t jump out at you like a top-10 pick, or anything close to that. After that, gosh, it was bad with the exception of Brennan who made 100% of his throws and was fun to watch I couldnt stop cheering every time he threw the ball. ``Chad Henne is a big, slow release guy, he stands in the pocket too long. He s got a big, wide base, kind of a squatter, not fundamentally very strong. There just aren t many fundamental quarterbacks. ``The kid from Nebraska [sam Keller] was just awful. ``Joe Flacco, fundamentally he s pretty average. But I watched him take about a million sacks on tape. He s a big, tall, long release guy. My whole deal with him is if he took a million sacks in college, what s going to happen in the NFL? Kind of reminds me of that big kid from Michigan that Arizona had, John Navarre. Same thing. He took too many sacks. He couldn t move around. Just like that kid from Arizona State that wound up in Oakland, Andrew Walter. He s going to be out of the league in another year. Do you want him? ``Andre Woodson? He didn t do anything either. I guess I ll have to go watch him work out at some point. This coach won t be holding his breath on the way to that workout either. QB Chad Henne is noted for his accuracy, but struggled a bit during the morning session Sunday. He missed a few receivers in various drills, although he did finish on a strong note with two excellent passes on the deep up and out pattern to finish the session.he has the strongest arm in the pack and he often thren laser cannons over his recievers head. He lacks touch and he seems to throw with evey thing he got on every given pass. What has made Henne so popular is his passion for the game and will to win and be succeful. I like him he reminds me of a Big Ben but not quite as mobile. Look for him to be taken in the late 1st round and mid 2nd round Ready to start: C+Potential: B+Status: Work on Progress, possible stealSuccess in the NFL: It will depend on the team who drafts him. With the right coaching he can become successful in the years to come. He needs a good QB couch to help him on his throw and delivey. This kid is running with a gun and shots with his eyes closed. he can play in the system at the pro level and can have lots of success

D-Ray
Kevin O'Connell, QB, San Diego StateName: Kevin O'Connell College: San Diego State Number: 7Height: 6-6 Weight: 228 Position: QB Pos2: Class/Draft Year: rSr/200840 Time: 4.6 40 Low: 4.59 40 High: 4.79 Projected Round: 5 Stock: Rated number 11 out of 111 QB's 159 / 2545 TOTAL 02/25/08 - After a weekend in which he met individually with eight teams, which he would not identify but which is believed to include the Chargers, O'Connell was pleased. He knew he needed to show improved footwork when dropping back, and he said the coaches on the field told him they were impressed with the work he'd done since the season ended. People know I'm athletic and can run, O'Connell said. But the NFL is more about what you do in the pocket. O'Connell said he could have run a faster 40 but had focused more of his training on the throwing session. It paid off. One coach estimated that 16 of O'Connell's 22 throws were good. Next to brennan's impressive day he was the 2nd best QB of this years combine He did enough for teams to be more interested in him, the coach said. He did very well for himself. Before Kevin O Connell s senior season, I compared the 6-foot-6, 235-pound San Diego State quarterback to Drew Stanton, a 2007 second-round draft pick by the Detroit Lions. At the time, I didn t realize I was selling O Connell short, and in more ways than one. The La Costa Canyon High alumnus is taller, heavier, faster and a better passer. NFL scouts are having a hard time comparing O Connell to other quarterbacks. The only starter in the league with his size and wheels is the Tennessee Titans Vince Young, and O Connell is arguably more advanced at reading defenses coming out of college than Young. All NFL scouts need to do to evaluate O Connell s pocket poise is watch film of his 27-yard touchdown pass to Vincent Brown on third-and-13 in the last minute to beat Wyoming. He made three reads, all covered, but he still found Brown after Brown broke off his pattern to get open. He delivered a pass in the corner of the end zone as he started to scramble. That doesn t mean O Connell will hear his name as early as the second round in the NFL Draft on April 26-27, but know this: From his senior season to his two all-star game appearances in Houston and Honolulu to last weekend s NFL Combine in Indianapolis, O Connell has continued to improve his stock and proved he can be this years biggest suprise in the NFL. He has the perfect size 6'6 combine with arm strenght, mobility and knowledge of the game. He is the complete pack in this years draft. Look for him to go on the late 3rd round.Ready to start: C+Potential: A-Status: His is making ascouts fall in love with him. This kid is giftenSuccess in the NFL: he is a quick learner and can apadt to any system in the NFL. This comes ready to takes any ones job in the middle of the season. There is no dounbt he will have success in the NFL all he needs is an opportunity or he will take one at any given chance.LOOK at the potential grade! D-Ray
JBopper (2/26/2008)Would be a good pick up IMO.A great pick up with our first 3rd round pick. That would allow us to address the needs on both our o-line and d-line. It doesn't matter who you draft with an awful o-line plus the QB we pick up is most likely not going to start for us in the '09 season. Let's draft O'Connell and let him learn!
