robbyb03
Fitzgerald no longer a student at VirginiaSports information director Jim Daves confirmed Monday the sophomore from Richmond, who is been expected to take over as the team's top pass-rusher with the departure of Chris Long to the NFL, is no longer a student but declined to comment further, citing privacy issues. The 6-foot-3, 279-pound Fitzgerald was a two-year starter who had 11 1/2 tackles for a loss and seven sacks last season. He also had two interceptions, including one he returned for a touchdown, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. The loss of Fitzgerald only adds to what has been a difficult offseason for the Cavaliers, who have also lost two-year starting quarterback Jameel Sewell, starting cornerback Chris Cook and two others for at least a year because of academic issues. clemumo82
I kept waiting all season for UVA to finally fall apart, but they kept winning every close game. However, Groh's recruiting has dropped off big time, and he's losing A LOT. Hard to see them winning more than 5-6 games this season, much less repeating last year's nine wins. Opening with Southern Cal isn't making it any easier.
