Quarterback Class

Recommended Posts

I absolutely hate this years quarterback class.

Ryan, Brohm, Woodson, Flacco, Henne, Ainge, and Booty are not my idea of a list of quarterbacks I would like to see the Falcons led by in the future. I have made a lot of mocks and it always pains me to, seemingly, waste a pick on a quarterback in the early rounds. I would much rather get better where we have a greater (or where i think we have a greater) chance of getting better for the long run. I do not feel good about any of the quarterbacks. The only two i am interested in didn't even play in the most advanced college football division, Flacco and J. Johnson. I also like O'Connell. I am willing to take O'Connell late, but from now on. In my drafts I am not selecting a quarterback for the reasons I have listed above. Does anybody understand what I am feeling or agree with me?

I feel in our first 6 picks...

1

2

2

3

3

4

...they should all be addressed towards our offensive line, defensive line, middle linebacker, or halfback. Other holes may become apparent such as cornerback if a DeAngelo Hall trade is successful. I would draft something like this... These are possible groups...

1 Jake Long Dorsey/Ellis McFadden

2 Chilo Rachal Cherilus Cherilus

2 Trevor Laws Philip Wheeler Trevor Laws

3 Jonathon Goff Tashard Choice Offensive Tackle

3 Kevin Smith Eric Young Jonathon Goff

4 Offensive Tackle Offensive Tackle Offensive Guard

I really feel that we should probably just end up trying another QB experiment. Such as JP Losman who got a rotten deal in Buffalo and may have just been bad for the scheme. Maybe we should just try to pry away a Aaron Rogers, Brady Quinn, or a player who has sat behind great players such as Sorgi or Cassel. Redman can hold down the fort for now and I think next years Quarterback class is a lot more practical. We may find that we get Shockley putting on a Garrard costume or whatever. Who knows? But I hate taking an early round QB in this years class.

This is an underrated QB class.

Ther are 4 QB's who can/should be franchise caliber or very good starters in the NFL:Henne, Brohm, Ryan, and JDB. (Flacco is a maybe)

And if you think this QB class is bad, go look at next year's . IT IS AWFUL! QB's like JPW and Rudy Carpenter and Chase Daniel. YUCK!

And the Falcons can't afford to have an experiment at QB like O'Connell, Johnson, or Brennan. They need someone who can come in and start and be ready to go in '09.

My definition of a "franchise QB" is someone that a franchise/offense can be built around. I don't see Henne or JDB fitting that mold. To me they are game managers that have to fit a certain scheme. Whereas a "franchise QB" is a can't-miss prospect (ala elite arm strength, accuracy, decision-making, great intangibles).

You can to build a franchise around a Brohm, Henne, or even Ryan.

Henne played in a pro offense at Michigan for 4 years. He's as ready as anybody.

YOu guys who are saying this only want to hold the franchise back even more by not drafting a QB this year. Got news for you, the '09 class stinks.

Nope. I would rather trade for one, but your opinion on next years QB class, is just that, your opinion.

The FA market for QB's stinks this year, as well as next year.

And if you don't believe about the '09 class, just go watch JDB and Carpenter, you'll agree w/me.

The only way the '09 class from one of the worst ever is if Stafford comes out a year early. Which ain't happening.

09 Class has Tebow, Stafford(Georgia boy!), Louisville's back up Cantwell, Todd Boeckman... I think Daniel is behind all of those guys.. Who will be 1st rounders next year.. There will only be two this year, if that.

Above.. I know.. But I don't agree with you..

I got news for you, Stafford won't be coming out early. He's a Junior this year, and 99% of all QB's, especially pro-style QB's which is what Stafford is, stay all 4 years. Sorry to dash your hopes. He'll be staying all 4 years and will be in the 2010 NFL draft.

And Chase Daniel is a spread option QB who won't translate to the NFL, same w/Tebow, who also won't come out early though he ain't a pro-style QB. Unless, he wins the Heisman again. I haven't seen enough of Boeckman to form an opinion.

Tebow won't be a QB on the next level, either.

Chase Daniel a 1st rounder?

The only guy out of all those you mentioned that will be a 1st rounder is Stafford. And that's if he even leaves early. Which I don't see happening.

I never said Daniel would be a 1st rounder.. I said he is behind all of the ones i mentioned.. Lol.. You have NO IDEA if Stafford will or will not come out.. If you don't see something happening in the future i should probably just go check it off the list aye?? :P

I'm still holding out hope for a DHall for Derek Anderson trade
Just say "no" to One Year Wonders.

Just say "no" to Anderson.

Can Anderson be mentioned one time without you repeating this nonsense? Is one pro-bowl year in the NFL not better than no experience in the NFL? How can you even think that?

I just gotta see him do it more then one year.
