****The Perfect TRADE*******

Jets

DeAngelo Hall

3rd overall pick

Falcons

6th pick

Dwayne Robertson

Jonathan Vilma

2nd round pick

why it makes sense for the Falcons

Falcons move down in the draft still can target the top tier QB or a olineman like Clady

add a 2nd and come out under the DeAngelo Hall contract

add a 4-3 DT that can replace Coleman right away in the starting LB

and a pro bowl LB in the middle when healthy

why it makes sense for the Jets

instead of throwing a boat load of money at Samuel they get a top tier corner that will come cheaper who is younger and has a ton of potential

also move up in the draft where they can take a superstar like McFadden cause there are rumblings that the Jets were not happy with Thomas Jones

trade sounds great, but just what absolute said, makes me say why trade him...

Because Hall probably won't come any cheaper than sameul more than likely. For us if both are gonna be similar contracts and both are similar talent wise. you might as well trade Hall and get the picks + the top CB.

First of all, the Falcons come out on the short end of the stick with regards to value. Secondly, Vilma had an ACL injury........that is not to be taken lightly. And, if his knee is good, he will cost a lot of money to re-sign. Thirdly, Hall is better (and will be for years to come) than any CB in this draft.

We would be far better off keeping Hall and riding with the #3 pick.

Trading for the sake of trading makes no sense.

Ya that sounds good but did you make this trade up in your head or is it realistic?

because if this trade is your idea I have plenty of "perfect" trades in my head we can explore.

dewayne robertson is scheduled to make more than most quaterbacks this year, his cap number is somehwere between 8-10 million depending on incentives. the jets grossly over paid for this first round player who has been a bust since joining the league.

I think Roberston is scheduled to make 11 mil which is not a problem if we restructure and sign him long term..He hasnt really been a bust just not as prodcutive as they though plus he is playing in a 3-4 which he is not suited for

it is very uncommon for a trade w so many pieces in the NFL. It would never happen IMO.

Uncommon, but not impossible.

I think it's a very interesting idea. I don't think it will happen, but I wouldn't be upset if it did. Obviously it would be contingent upon new contracts for all concerned and that could end up being a sticking point.

Jets' Dewayne Robertson on block

BY RICH CIMINI

DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER

Tuesday, February 26th 2008, 4:00 AM

Dewayne Robertson Weissman for News

Dewayne Robertson

Dewayne Robertson doesn't tie up blockers on a consistent basis, largely because he's too small to play nose tackle in the Jets' 3-4 defense. But there is one thing he can tie up: the salary cap. His $11.2 million figure consumes one-tenth of the team's cap.

For those reasons - money and scheme - the Jets are willing to listen to trade offers for the former first-round pick, the Daily News has learned. Over the last few days at the scouting combine in Indianapolis, the Jets have been gauging Robertson's value around the league, according to several NFL sources. A handful of teams, including the Broncos, are showing interest.

It means that two of the Jets' highest-drafted defensive players, Robertson and linebacker Jonathan Vilma, could be traded. The Daily News reported on Friday that Vilma, a first-round pick in 2004, has received permission from the team to seek a trade. He, too, is ill-suited to Eric Mangini's 3-4 scheme.

Robertson, the fourth pick in 2003, never has lived up to expectations and his contract has become an albatross. He's due to make $9.8 million this season - $6.8 million in base pay, plus a $3 million roster bonus (due in June). In five seasons, he has pocketed more than $26 million, a hefty price for 14-1/2 sacks. He's signed through 2009.

But he's still only 26, and many believe he could be an impact player in the right scheme. Robertson would be a good fit in the Broncos' 4-3 scheme, and they're known to be in the market for a defensive tackle. The Broncos reportedly are getting close to a trade for the Lions' Shaun Rogers, who almost certainly will be dealt when the trading period begins Friday. Rod Coleman, cut recently by the Falcons, is another quality interior lineman looking for work. He's scheduled to meet with the Bucs.

Robertson is the youngest of the group, so he'd probably have more appeal. But any team that covets him almost certainly will want to renegotiate his enormous contract. It's unclear if Robertson has received permission from the Jets to speak with other teams.

He never complained publicly about being miscast in Mangini's defense, but Robertson is known to be frustrated with his role. Robertson's backup is Sione Pouha, who received glowing praise from Mangini over the final month of the season.

NO PATS: In a new twist to the Jets-Patriots rivalry, the Jets told Vilma's agent he could talk trade with any team except the Patriots, the Boston Globe reported.
