its going slower than it has in past years, but im very happy with my first 4 picks

Wright

Fielder

Bedard

Granderson

i couldnt believe fielder was there when i picked in the second round, but what was even more unbelievable was granderson being ther in the mid 4th

I was tossing Peavy and Wright in my head, when my friend said flip a coin. Well you see how that turned out. Everyone started off picking ss with exception of 2.

i was hoping no one else would notice Granderson had fallen...lol. i was surprised that Arimas Ramirez fell as far as he did. i've also seen a few reaches in my opinion that i was kind of surprised to see.

A very good pick. I was debating very hard between him and the guy I picked, Ichiro when my 3rd round pick came up.

I got a little different plan this year, it's working out decently, but I'll be able to tell a lot more in three more rounds...:hehe:

Ive completely changed my normal draft strategy this year. Going more for the speed, average, run producers up front and power and pitching later.

That being said I love getting Zambrano and Oswalt on back to back picks in the 4th and 5th round.

i thought about Oswalt, but decided on Verlander and Harang. some of Oswalt's #'s like IP and K's and have dropped a little each year over the past 3 years, but is still good for 15+ wins and will give you a good whip and era.

i can't believe harang doesn't get the credit he deserves. he's easily one of the most underrated SP's in the game.....especially considering he pitches half his games in that hitter friendly park in cincy. i remember a couple of years ago drafting him in this draft in the 21st or 22nd round. now he's among the top SP's in the game and could be a #1 for any team out there if they were in need of a #1.

i was all kinds of happy to see Verlander still on the board. 17 and 18 wins in his first two seasons. then throw in the stacked line up that's going to be putting up the run support for him and he could easily win 20 this year if pitches like he has the past 2 years.

No doubt about Harang. If he had been there on my second pick I would have most likely got him instead of Oswalt. I didnt realize till the other day that his K's were as high as they are.

I wish you would have passed on Ichrio I would have loved to get him on that last pick... I like Martin over Martinez this year... He should be a stud in that Dodger lineup in his 3rd season..

i just can't bring myself to get a Catcher before the 5th round or so unless he's going to put up Piazza type numbers (when he was in his prime...i.e. 35+ HR's, 115+ RBI's, .300+ BA, etc).....especially when you can get that production from other positions. then throw in that there are only 3-5 catchers each year that even approach 25 HR's in recent years. i just assume take a catcher in the mid-later rounds and make up the production elsewhere.

martin is a stud though. in my other league, i was able to pick him up in the 16th round last year. man i had that team stacked. i'll have to see if i can find the lineup for it.

well for me catchers are a later pick as well. Beyond the first few you don't have big numbers for really any catchers. I look at what they average and see how many are close to the average and frankly it's a few very good hitting catchers and the rest are very close in numbers.. It's not something where I would reach for one early. JMO

Yeah, I needed more power with that selection, but Ichiro's consistency was too good to pass up.

Martin and Martinez were the only two catchers that I was going to pony up to draft in the top 5 rounds. After Martinez got picked up two picks ahead of me, I had to go grab a different position.

hopefully Tejada can rebound with a short porch in Houston since he'll be batting with Berkman and Lee around him. can't go wrong with Gonzalez in the bottom of the 6th round when he hit .282/30 HR/100 RBI's last year....especially when i NEED a 1st baseman

Yep, I had Gonzalez last year and he was an absolute monster for me.
