Petrino is NOT my hero
I don't understand how people think we might ever draft Chris Long.. he is to small to play either DT position in Mike Smiths run stuff style Defense.. and there is no way we give up on Anderson after one year at RE.. that is just asinine

twyntefour
technically rod coleman was an oversized pass rushing DE but played DT because of his size. chris long has been projected to be able to play a 4-3 DT or 3-4 DE/OLB he is versatile but nothing really stands out about him, i think grendel has a crush on howie. if we take chris long at three i will cry, he shouldnt even be invited to the draft, they only reason hes getting any attention at all is because hes howies son. must be easy to ride that wave into the NFL. [/sarcasmoff] ... did you even read my first post... We will not draft him as a DE if we even drafted him cause there is no way we would give up on a top 10 pick RDE after ONE season... but thanks for helping my point
scott24falcs
I almost willing to guarantee that if he's somehow on the board when we pick, we take him. He's far and away the best player in the draft IMO. He played DE in the 3-4 all throughout his college career, and put up great numbers. He's one of the most versatile players in the draft. He can play DE in the 4-3, which may be the best fit for him. He can probably stand up and play OLB in the 3-4. And he can play UT on strictly passing downs in the 4-3. He's big, strong, and fast. His motor never stops. And his dad was a HOF.Yeah, I'd hate for us to draft him. :doze:
twyntefour
im sick of the howie long huggers everywhere, chris long is garbage and will never be a top 10 DE in the league. i hope we draft him just to prove all you wrong so you can see how bad he SUCKS! plus we be investing 30 mil garuanteed into a DE who will only see the feild during the last half of the season when #55 gets injured/

Anderson is in his SECOND year... Abraham is one of the best DE in the game.. and we will be looking at beefier DT's to fit Mike Smith's bruising scheme... I'm tired of trying to convince people that we need help at DE. If you feel comfortable with Abraham and Jamaal (who's closer to being considered a "bust" than a good player), and a FA Chauncey Davis, then suit yourself. twyntefour
us taking chris long with 3 is like the patriots taking brohm at 7 or the vikings taking mendenhall in the first

halsey
Yeah, he's only overhyped because of his last name. Just like people said about the Mannings...but hey, it's cool, just keep assuming he's overrated because of his last name. It must have been his father who had the same number of sacks last season as Gholston and more than Harvey, Campbell, Merling or Groves. twyntefour
ok ill retract that hes garbage, but IMO we dont NEED him nor do we need to take him at 3. anderson may not be the second comming and abes might be gettin up there and slightly injury prone, but with all the other needs of this team do we really need to adress DE this year? with all the money locked up in abe and anderson we dont need to spend another 30 million on another DE is all im saying, we have needs at DT LT and QB. the patriots are probably the only team in the top 10 who have the luxery of drafting BPA we have needs to adress and when there are high quality players avialable and we pass on them for a position that we drafted in the first last year and spent big money in FA we become the detriot lions... YIKES!

ucityfalcon
1. Chris Long is a DE.2. He's the best DE in the draft, irregardless of his dad.3. I'd love to draft him, but we've got 1st round money, albeit questionable, invested in Jamal Anderson, and an interior D-line is more important from a rebuilding standpoint. .:st.anger:.
Wouldn't make sense to take Chris Long....We're set at DE with last year's R1 pick and Abraham on the other side. And he's too small to play tackle and who knows what the guy can do standing up at WSB........wouldn't make any sense at all.

Teams with great defenses draft great pass rushers anytime they're available as long as there's roster spots to hold 'em.
