Matt Ryan

Recommended Posts

Just speaking for myself, I don't hate Matt Ryan. I'm sure he is a fine young man. I do hate the idea of taking him with the 3rd over pick in this year's draft. I just don't think he has separated himself enough from the other QB's to merit that kind of money and risk. The Falcons plain cannot afford to blow this #1 pick, that is assuming they keep it. I just simply feel like we need to build the team through the draft beginning with both lines. Coach Smith's philosophy is plainly stated to run the ball and stop the run; things the Falcons had a hard time doing last year. Matt Ryan can do neither of those things, and thus does nothing to accomplish those goals, and he would be your first pick!!

People hate him because of where we are picking in the draft. He would be a great.. I dunno # 16-25 pick in the first round. He is the best QB in the draft over all, but he just hasn't set himself apart enough to warrant a # 3 pick in most peoples opinion.

He's perhaps the 4th best QB.

You may feel that way, and it may end up turning out that way... but based on what the scouts and experts know of him now, his prototypical height, arm strength and supposed Leadership skills and off the field work in the film room, there is a consensus that he is the best and most NFL ready QB right now. But we all know picking a QB is more of a shot in the dark than most positions and there is never a 100% SURE pick.

Its even worse when he sucks as bad as Ryan.

Why do you hate Matt Ryan PLZ be honest.

I hate favoritism. He's only a top prospect because Mike Mayock and ESPN have been hyping him. His stats and performance are those of a 3rd round pick, at best. I hate the idea of wasting 3 years on a guy who's NOT a franchise QB and wasting a top 5 pick on a guy who's not worth it.

u sa yy hate favoritism but ive seen u goin on who u like in the draft and why they are who we should draft u hipricrit

He didn't throw today just like he didn't show up at the Senior Bowl because he didn't want to expose how sucky he is

Ditto. While I can say that it's his perogative to show up or not, he hasn't shown ANYTHING else to warrant such a high pick. I care not what people say, its what you do that makes the difference and right now, the tapes say he's not that good.

No hate, just tape!!

I don't hate Matt Ryan. I just don't think he is worthy of the #3 pick. When I look at Ryan it just makes me think of the 2005 draft. This draft was very lackluster, especially at QB. I guess the analysts thought the draft is just better when there is a superstar QB, and if there isn't one, just create one. They created Alex Smith. They applauded his mobility, his accuracy, and literally applauded his workout at the combine.

I was living in Sacramento at the time and was around tons of 49er fans who said all of the same things some Falcon fans are saying about Matt Ryan. I told them, this guy's skills doesn't seem like it's going to translate to the NFL, this guy isn't worth the 1st overall pick. I didn't think he would be terrible, but I just thought it would be a bad idea to invest so much in what could potentially be a backup QB. They told me he would be okay because he's the best QB in this draft, and regardless of which QB was in it, they need one now.

Since then, he has thrown 19 TD and 31 INT's in 3 seasons. They reached for a QB out of need and now they have Derek Zoolander at QB. I just don't want that for the Falcons. I think when you are picking that high you obviously have needs and you need to take the best overall player available. I'm not saying I'm a fortune teller, Matt Ryan may turn out to be a good QB. All I'm saying is, when you throw 19 INT'S in the ACC, I am going to have my doubts.

There is no need talking about Ryan because i guarantee Thomas D. is not going to select Matt Ryan. On one of the quotables on the Falcons homepage he said he was not going to draft a quarterback first because the quarterback is only as good as the rest of the team and that he could find just as much value with a later pick. He and Mike Smith both believe the game starts in the trenchs and he is either going to select an OT or DT with the 3rd overall pick.

YOU CAN'T FIND ONE SINGLE POST, WHERE I SAID THAT I HATE MATT RYAN!

There is no need to love him either. He plays like Vick, but on a college level and that without the speed, athleticism, and arm. They only have INT's in common.

Don't be a dumbazz.

Everyone has their favorites, but ESPN and Mayock have been hyping Ryan up for no particular reason. Someone in power giving preferential treatment is favoritism. He doesn't deserve it and it's criminal the way they're pushing him and hurting more deserving guys draft stock.

Marshall Faulk agrees.
