Source: Several teams interested in Lions' Rogers

By John Clayton

Lions general manager Matt Millen acknowledged he would listen to offers for defensive tackle Shaun Rogers, and there is no question that there is interest.

According to a source, approximately five or six teams have expressed interest in Rogers, who can be one of the most dominating defensive players in football. Rogers' name has been mentioned in trades in recent years, but this is the most serious talk of a possible deal.

Last year, the Lions gave Cory Redding a seven-year, $47.5 million contract, moving him to defensive tackle and trying to motivate Rogers. Redding is one of Rogers' best friends going back to their college days at Texas. The thought from the Lions standpoint was that Rogers would be invigorated having Redding at his side.

During the first half of the season, the strategy worked. Rogers had one of his best starts, but the team hit a losing streak in the second half of the season and the Lions ended with yet another losing season.

Things may not move quickly for a trade, though. Many people in the Lions organization believe Rogers is one of their most talented players, so he won't be given away cheaply.
