This is an OL, DL draft. Not a QB, RB draft.

I can't wait to hear many of you whine and cry when we draft a DL with our first pick. What else do you think Smith is going to want?

If we do not trade down then you can guarantee Dorsey will be our 1st pick if he is available.

There will be no Matt Ryan (aka Matt Leinhart Part II), no Darren McFadden (aka Reggie Bush Part II). There will be FOUNDATION players. D-Linemen. O-Linemen. These are what this draft is deep in, and we will clean house.

You bring in serviceable players who want to learn, who want to work for a job. AND YOU COACH THEM TO GREATNESS.

Look at the Patriots for a good example of that. Blue-Collar guys turned Stars through good coaching. That's all you need.

You don't need a team full of "Prime Time" Super Stars. The Falcons tried that, it didn't work. Too many egos + too high a payroll = too much losing.

You don't build a house from the ceiling down. You don't build anything that way.

And having said that - the Falcons will be a 6-10 team next season. That's step 1: Transition.

2009 and beyond is a different story.

And what makes you 110% positive that we will not draft a QB or RB in the first round? Are we going to hear you cry when we do? Sorry but stop dreaming in the fantasy world. The reality is this...Matt Ryan or Darren McFadden will be a falcon.

On the other hand, it would be a terrible idea to let a great class of running backs pass by without taking any of them.

We need a RB. We need that Felix guy. McFadden we do not need. We already have Norwood, who is basically the same size and much faster.

So we need a running back more like Norwood than McFadden? A running back made up of nothing but undersized speed backs used in a rotation hasn't worked since late 60's Kansas City.

Imagine Norwood playing behind a solid O-Line. He would be the Devin Hester of RBs.

Thank god you're not the GM of the Falcons. People like you have ruined this franchise.

Matt Ryan is a decent QB but he wont help this team; Redman is already seasoned and ready to start game #1.

McFadden sucks. He drops like a fly on the first hit and he has zero field vision. He wont last 3 years against NFL LBs and Safeties. He is a gimmick back, like Reggie Bush.

You build a team inside-out, not outside-in.

Even if we sacrifice talent to concentrate on a position of need, when running back is also a hole in the offense?

If we draft a OL player in the first round, I will be really pissed off.

What if we draft a long-snapper first. We need one of those. Or a kicker.

We have 10+ picks in this draft and not much cap-space. Sh*t happens. Expensive vets must go, cheap new guys must come in. We can't afford a 1st Round QB or RB. And we don't need a 1st Round QB or RB. We just need solid guys who do their jobs, not super-stars.

With so many players being released, we will have to get one...no matter how much you would hate it, In reality, one of these guys will be a falcon.

McFadden or Ryan

Norwood is not a every down back, We already have a power running RB named Snelling.

Norwood is not a every down back anyways.

I didn't say he was. We need a BIG RB to go with him. Not a McFadden.

then why would you want felix jones..... I would rather have Mendenhall.. stewart... charles... a HUGE sleeper that could be great is Justin Forte... hes gonna be special in the NFL and we could get him around the 3rd or even 4th depending on how people draft

Jedi,

I think you are absolutely 100% correct. I would draft the big boys the entire draft with an emphasis on O-line. A 26th ranking on Offense and a 26th ranking on Defense highlights the need to win the battles in the trenches. Once you solidify the lines then draft the backs and skill players. They will be there later.
