btheman71
I still think Dan Reeves was a great coach, but he was a horrible talent evaluator. Here is the Falcons draft history so far this decade.Year, # of players still on team, those players with the round they were drafted:2000 - 02001 - 2 - Alge Crumpler (2), Kynan Forney (7), Vick was drafted this year2002 - 02003 - 02004 - 3 - DeAngleo Hall (1), Michael Jenkins (1), Demorrio Williams (4), Schaub was drafted this year2005 - 4 - Roddy White (1), Jonathan Babineaux (2), Chauncey Davis (5), Michael Boley (5)2006* - 5 - Jimmy Williams (2), Jerious Norwood (3), Quinn Ojinnaka (5), Adam Jennings (6), DJ Shockley (7)2007 - 11 - Jamaal Anderson (1), Justin Blalock (2), Chris Houston (2), Laurent Robinson (3), Stephen Nicholas (4), Martrez Milner (4), Trey Lewis (6), David Irons (6), Doug Datish (6), Daren Stone (6), Jason Snelling (7)* - In 2006 the Falcons traded their first round pick to the Jets for John Abraham. The 2007 draft for the Falcons was awesome. Had 11 picks and all 11 made the team. It looks very solid at this point. They hired Dan Reeves in 1997, fired him in 2003. You can see what his drafts produced in 2000 - 2003 above. Not much. From 1997 through 1999, these are the only notable players:Tim Dwight, Keith Brooking, Patrick Kerney, Todd McClure
formul8or
Last year's draft was excellent, I think McKay was on a good track, but with him and TD working together we may have an even better draft.

g-dawg
yes, with all of these fans "pining" for Dan Reeves they forget how he almost single-handedly destroyed the team with poor drafts. Reeves had a few good picks here and there and Falcons did have playoff history with Reeves, but if you look at the draft history of Falcons with Reeves having final say - it was extremely poor.I don't have the time to list right now but someone challenges me, I may be forced to answer with detail! Look at what LT has done for that team in the play-offs anyways.

consistentfalcon
i stiil say that its funny with all the bad picks reeves made and all the excellent picks you all say that mckay has made that the falcons made the playoffs in 2004 with a handover team that reeves left for mora, the falcons went 11-5 and has since progressively gotten worse records. Why are all the excellent draft picks not showing the excellence that i'm reading in season ending records since 2004. maybe reeves wasnt so bad after all. The Kid with the Golden Arm
Reeves was out of his element when evaluating football talent, but his drafts yielded more impact players than McKay's did.
604hof
Dan Reeves, good coach, good man, terrible GM. Just 2 words sum up his tenure as a GM,Nathan Davis.
