ATL--75
Norwood has talent, but his career may end up like former Falcon RB Byron Hanspard. Hanspard had been competing with the 'original' Jamal Anderson in the late 1990's, but he never was able to put it together as injuries slowed his career down and was never the same again as he washed out of the league within four years. For 2008, I don't see the Falcon coaching staff putting all the 'eggs in one basket'. Norwood has shown he can't take a NFL pounding. Maybe using him as a Eric Metcalf type of player, but he would strictly become a third down/specialist and he may have a role in a Mike Mularkey offense under those conditions. However, the days of Norwood being considered a starter will quickly fade.Norwood works better in space and not between the tackles. YOU SAID YOURSELF IN ANOTHER THREAD THAT THEY DON'T PLAY HIM ENOUGH. WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO STIR UP NOW ATL--75. DavidsonFalcon
So true. ATL 75 get a life. Yeah he does face an uphill battle to become the starter - but only due to the power style back the new regime apparently desires. However, the steelers currently run a power running offense, and guess who is their feature back? "Fast" Willie Parker. Not exactly your prototypical power back. So we cant be sure exactly what role Norwood will play in the new offense, but we DO know that he is quite a weapon when utilized. I look forward to seeing what Mularkey designs for him. ATL--75
Hits like these has turned Norwood into a liability. He is talented, but you can't depend on him from game to game..The player making the tackle in this photo is Tampa's Derrick Brooks. In this game from 2006 put one good hit on Norwood and he was gone for most of the game... This would not have likely happened to Gerald Riggs, Andrews, John Settle or Jamal Anderson..Norwood : "I've fallen and I can't get up.." jidady
Tangent: I loved Byron Hanspard. Oh, how I regret his shredding his knee. That dude was a destroyer in space. If we could have had Tim Dwight, Jam and him on the field at the same time in 98, defenses would have had no chance. A four receiver set with them, Mathis and Martin with Jam in the backfield...oh, what I would have given to see that formation on occasion. And Jamaal Anderson isn't Mario Williams.Norwood has durabilty issues and has trouble staying on the field, and Jamaal Anderson has a talent problem despite being healthy..
