The Jags defense has been a key part to there success ..also he played the game

which in a way he can relate to the players...

like the hiring

me too swifty, I like the defensive mind leading the way, without a solid D it ain't happening.

I don't think Petrino could even spell D.

yea i like it too as long as its true, but if it isnt i will say it again. i think we have great coaching candidates and will be happy if we hire any of these guys. another good upside about mike though is that his defense went up against the face of the league and one of the most potent offenses twice a year. he also coached in one of the toughest divisions.

I think it is a good hire. I would have leaned toward Spags, personally, but TD knows infinitely more than I do, so I will trust his judgment. Now it will be interesting to see who the coordinators will be. Bring in two great coordinators and we will be in business!

If this rumor turns out to be true then I'm all for it, for two reasons:

1. I've read his bio and from what I see, he's a qualified coach with lots of experience and more importantly, RESULTS.

2. Any man with the stones to come up and tackle this train wreck of a team gets my immediate respect.

Let's just hope he can convert those things to HEAD coaching success.

I'm glad about this hiring three-fold:

1. He's a defensive coordinator who put together a **** good defensive unit in J-Ville.

2. We won't have to switch to a 3-4.

3. He's a familiar face.

Good hire, TD.

yea and mike coached in arguably one of the best divisions in the league and his D went up against peyton manning and the colts twice a year. plus the guy has a ring. he should help our D out some more and cant wait to see who he brings in.

wow and it sounded to me like ryan thought the job was his, Im kinda shocked!

Im glad we look at his overall body of work and not the way he coached against pats

man I thought he was playing not to lose ,instead of playing to win

I hope the falcons have not gone ahead and hired another one of those guys

What did you guys think of the way he coached that game?

I am too, solid hire plus he has been a DC for more than one year.I do think that we'll see a DT picked in the first(Ellis,Dorsey) unless a trade down happens. Now who is gonna be the OC and DC that's going to be significant as well.Let's face with how everything went down with you know who,Mora would have likely still been here if he would have got rid of Knapp.Let's hope they can coach/teach/motivate the current roster to be atleast a respectable team.
