most of you probably never heard of this kid but I'm sure we will hear about him in the NFL...he could be a steal in the 5th round if he drops that far...he plays great in the slot, is very elusive on kick/punt returns, great speed and great hands

he made the all American D2 team twice and was a honorable mention in his first 2 seasons. He was also a Harlon Hill candidate as a Senior

Disadvantages are that he is short(5'8") but so is Wes Welker

thoughts?

nfldraftscout doesnt even have him being drafted. Another disadvantage about him is that he only weighs 172 pounds, but then again Welker only weighs 185 pounds. I wouldnt mind bringing him as a FA, but we shouldnt waste a draft pick on him.

**** they have him rated low :|

I think the Vikings would pick him up right away as a FA, as they did with other players from the area in the past

He is incredibly small at 5'8 and 172lbs. His speed isn't that amazing either. He will probably go undrafted and might end up on a practice squad.

Wes Welker isn't that big and didn't run that fast at the combine either...but the Patriots still traded a 2nd and a 7th round pick for him to the Dolphins ;)

and Joey Harrington said one of our current WRs reminded him of Wes Welker......... Adam Jennings. I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.

he does have pretty good receiving skills. If he wasn't a bad punt returner and didn't hop around like he has ADD......

Welker gets most of his catches on short crossing routes and curls, either underneath zone coverage or away from a defensive back. He's not anything special, he just gets a lot of passes thrown his way because Moss and Stallworth are so dangerous as mid-range and deep targets. He just looks great because he has a quarterback that will always find him and throw a catchable ball, and there's just about always an opening for him. He's a slot receiver just like many classic slot receivers, and though we could really use a reliable slot receiver, we don't need to specifically hunt down slow, short recievers.

True, but he has great moves in the open-field to help him get that extra 4-5 yards. And most importantly, he catches the ball.

He's no better than Troy Brown was, Brown would probably have been better in the same role with that talent around him. He has good moves, but he's still not particularly fast or frightening in the open field, just very capable of getting a first down if he's open enough.
