cshot4
Vikings name Leslie Frazier defensive coordinator February 8, 2007EDEN PRAIRIE, MINNESOTA (TICKER) -- The Minnesota Vikings turned to the Super Bowl champions for their new defensive coordinator. Leslie Frazier, who has spent the last eight years as an NFL assistant, is leaving the Indianapolis Colts to become coordinator for the Vikings, the team announced Thursday. Frazier, who has won a Super Bowl as both a player and assistant, replaces Mike Tomlin, who left last month to become head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers. He takes over a defense that was best against the run but second-worst against the pass. ADVERTISEMENTA starting defensive back on the 1986 Super Bowl champion Chicago Bears, Frazier spent the last two seasons as defensive backs coach and special assistant to the head coach with the Colts. In 2005, the Colts were 11th in the NFL in total defense and sent safety Bob Sanders to the Pro Bowl, the team's first defensive back since 1971 to receive that honor. In 2006, the Colts fell to 21st in total defense, primarily due to a league-worst 173 rushing yards allowed per game. In the postseason, the Colts surrendered just five offensive touchdowns. Frazier was defensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals in 2003-04 and defensive backs coach for the Philadelphia Eagles from 1999-2002. Prior to that, he spent 11 years coaching in the college ranks.
Gerber09
Hes moved up through coaching positions along with being part of good staffs. What suprises me is that the Vikes are 2nd worst against the pass because he was a DB coach. Is that a concern about his coaching or secondary talent for the Vikes? Im glad we are taking the time to interview him.
