Jeremy Jones
OT- Maurice Williams or Kwame Harris- They both could backup both sides or start on the right side and Clabo could backup outside and insideOT- Jordan Gross- Word is that Carolina won't be able to afford him. Weiner could start at left tackle, while grooming a first day pick, and form a very good duo with Gross.G- Alan Faneca- Nuff said.G- Justin Smiley- Would bring a nasty attitude and is still young.WR- Drew Carter- Would be a good #4 to spread the field.DT- Tommy Kelly- Would be a good backup pass rusher at DT and DE.LB- Kawika Mithell- Played for Spags. Can play outside or inside. Could groom a young MLB.LB- Karlos Dansby- Would form a dominant LB corp with Boley and Nicholas. Is versatile. Only problem is staying healthy.S- Gibril Wilson- Played for Spags. Would add a starter to the mix with Milloy, JWill(who should blossom under Spags) and DStone. Hollywood_5555
Drew Carter is sorry he has all the potential in the world he has height and speed but cant even run a simple route.
Jeremy Jones
That why I want him to be our # 4. He would be pretty cheap. His only job would be to run a go route to open up the middle for everybody else. Other than Roddy, we don't have a deep threat.

Jeremy Jones
Robinson is not really a deep threat. He is in the darrell jackson mold. Jennings is good, but I don't think he is big enough to play all the time.
atlfalcons32
i would love to get Gibril Wilson, i didnt even know he was a free agent, he is one of my favorite safties in the league, he puts up good numbers every year.i dont know if we would have enough money, but if we could sign Faneca and Wilson that would be amazing

Jeremy Jones
Panthers impending free agent T Jordan Gross is expected to command "well north" of $7 million per year in an extension this offseason.Extending Gross is the Panthers' top priority for the winter, but that's a lot of money for a right tackle. Carolina may be considering switching Gross back to the left side, even though he hasn't been as effective there.Source: Rock Hill Herald Peppers poor season leaves Panthers with tough contract callWith DE Julius Peppers just one year away from free agency, the Panthers have a difficult decision to make this offseason. Carolina was reportedly close to signing Peppers to a long-term extension in training camp, which likely would have made him the highest-paid defender in the league, but negotiations fell through. The six-year veteran just completed, statistically, the worst season of his career, recording just 2½ sacks. In a matter of four months, Peppers extension went from the top of the squad s to-do list to well behind several other more pressing needs. Peppers will be the Panthers highest-paid player next season with a base salary of $6.5 million, but that could change if a restructuring takes place to compensate him more fairly for his declining performance this season. The primary goal of general manager Marty Hurney and head coach John Fox this offseason will be to remodel the offensive line. Both of Carolina s starting offensive tackles, Travelle Wharton and Jordan Gross, are free agentsprofootballweekly.comRICHARDSON SAYS OFFSEASON WON T BE HO-HUM Posted by Mike Florio on January 17, 2008, 12:06 p.m. Though Panthers owner Jerry Richardson opted not to part ways with head coach John Fox or G.M. Marty Hurney, Richardson says that the team s offseason could have some surprises. There are going to be changes, he told the media on Wednesday. I don t know if you can put them in the category of surprises. It s not going to be a ho-hum offseason, it looks like. Richardson says that he told Fox and Hurney on November 30 that there wouldn t be change as to their positions. I said, Just to put your mind at ease, it seems grim now, but the sky is not falling. And if you have a job, if you don t have problems and issues, then you don t have a real job. We have jobs, and we have problems and issues. But Richardson s words surely won t remove Fox or Hurney from the hot seat, at least not in perception. Especially since Richardson talked openly about emulating the Pittsburgh Steelers. With former Steelers coach Bill Cowher living in North Carolina and with Cowher poised to round up guys like Kevin Colbert and/or Omar Khan if/when Cowher decides to get back into the game, Richardson could pretty easily (but not cheaply) bring the Steeler way to Charlotte. On the field, the Panthers need to decide what to do with left tackle Jordan Gross, who is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent. Also, the cap number of suddenly underachieving defensive end Julius Peppers requires an adjustment to his deal.Offensively, the team needs to upgrade the passing game, specifically by getting a receiver to take some of the focus off of Steve Smith. There are signs that Smith is getting increasingly frustrated, and they need to find a way to unleash him.Permalink | 17 Comments Back to Top There is no way they can keep Gross and Peppers. Plus, their rebuilding their offensive line.
Jeremy Jones
They've tried Gross at LT. He is a good LT who gets beat alot and a probowler at RT who is dominant.

canadianfalcon35
Gibril Wilson should be the main offseason target if available. He'll command less money than Faneca and would have a huge impact at FS.
Jeremy Jones
I think Gibril Wilson will be here if Spags is. Count it!
Robb4242
JMO, I'd like to add a WR, but I think we need a possession WR. It's something we've missed without Finn the last couple of years. Jenkins definitely is not living up to the task. Therefore, I'd like to see us make a push to sign Bryant Johnson from Arizona. He's been stuck behind Fitzgerald & Boldin out there, but he's also played well when one of those guys has been injured. If we give any thought to trading D Hall this offseason, then I'd like to see us make a move at Charles Tillman from Chicago as well.Just a couple names I had not seen mentioned. falconffl
OL is a much bigger need for us right now than safety. We will not be able to build anything consistent on offense, passing or running, without a solid offensive line. YKW and the zone blocking system masked our deficiences at OL until this season. We have to start at the foundation to rebuild this team and the foundation is the OL and DL.
